Fix mail/mlmmj -fno-common

2021-02-13 Thread David Goerger
I've copied this patch from FreeBSD ports[1], and submitted it to what
appears[2] to be the new upstream on gitlab.com[3].

This fixes the build for me on -current amd64.

Apologies if this isn't formatted correctly---I'm unsure how to
represent "mkdir mail/mlmmj/patches" using cvs diff, but otherwise
this applies cleanly for me on a fresh checkout.

2021-02-13 Thread Paul Valencia
Hi ports@,

This updates wrath to the latest commit of the wrath-darkplaces engine
which is necessary to play the new update of the commercial game
Wrath: Aeon of Ruin.
Tested with the new game content on amd64.

Here's the diff that I want to commit. Thaison, does this work with
your HFS+ drive? OpenBSD devs, is this ok to commit?

misc/hfsplus is old code from 2002 and has 2 problems:

  1. It is broken on LP64_ARCHS (like amd64), because the C code
 assumes sizeof(long) == 4.

  2. It is broken when the HFS+ has no HFS wrapper. (My old macppc
 DVD from 2005 is new enough to lack a wrapper. A text file in
 the wrapper would tell users of Mac OS < 8.1 that HFS+ requires
 Mac OS >= 8.1.)

In this diff:
  - Simplify Makefile by setting AUTORECONF.
  - Fix LP64_ARCHS by changing UInt32 and like from long to int.
 - Most of this diff is "%ld" -> "%d" in printf()s.
  - Fix -fno-common from Gentoo.
  - Fix HFS+ with no HFS wrapper by setting vol->maxblocks.
  - In src/copyout.c, fix passing to int *lenptr.

For example, copy private/etc/passwd from my old DVD:
$ hpmount -rp1 /dev/cd0c# -p1 only for Apple partition map
$ hpcd private
$ hpcd etc  # private/etc doesn't work
$ hpcopy passwd .
$ hpumount

Veracrypt port, anything new

2021-02-13 Thread Joseph Mayer
Hi Portsmonitor and ports@,

Portsmonitor I just saw your Veracrypt port update that you shared here
on the ML 2020-10-14 [1], thanks a lot for sharing.

Searching the ML backwards, I see Joshua uploaded the port on Github
in 2019 - I presume you improved on that one - and then 2019-06-28
Chris asked what about adding it to OpenBSD's ports. [2]

Veracrypt would solve the problem of being able to use one and the same
encrypted volume on multiple operating systems, as Veracrypt has been
ported to more OSes.

Since then have you made any more ports updates?

In your experience how well does Veracrypt work and how fast is it?

And for the ml: What about including it?

Joseph

Re: UPDATE: lang/snobol4 2.0 => 2.2.1 (incl. -fno-common fixes)

2021-02-13 Thread STeve Andre'
Greg, thanks for this.  I was intending to deal with this but I've been impeded
with health issues of late.  Now I can work on my thinkpad problems.

There are actually users. Among people I've gotten to dabble in Openbsd, at
least three are learning string processing languages like snobol and icon.
Neat.

Remove graphics/enjoympeg?

2021-02-13 Thread Christian Weisgerber
graphics/enjoympeg fails to build with -fno-error. A glance at DESCR

  Enjoympeg is a MPEG-1 video player based on the source
  of plaympeg from the SMPEG library. It has [... who cares...]

makes me think that this port can be removed. FreeBSD did so about
a decade ago. MPEG-1 video (Video CD) is laughably obsolete.
FFmpeg etc. can still handle it if somebody is really sitting on
an archive of VHS-quality videos.

Incidentally, I asked the maintainer how man pages are supposed to be
installed, and they said it's best to use the Makefile if you want a
complete installation. Probably not worth changing our port, but
something to keep in mind in case this turns out to be a pattern.

A few notes / questions:

* I fixed a couple of typos in

https://github.com/falsifian/ports/commit/98111e702634842865a3d27675b6848e3fb2b7ca

* I added example usage for cabal-bundler. I hope I got it right:

https://github.com/falsifian/ports/commit/f21cb097f215831b1d08443f9074073895a13731

* If I find more time to work on this, should I polish my git-annex
  port, or is there something more useful I could be doing with your
  Cabal infrastructure? (I installed darcs and it seems to work.)

* I tried to enable tests, partly because Darcs has a comprehensive
  test suite. I ran into some trouble. My WIP is here:

https://github.com/falsifian/ports/commit/99cb0e33e2263cf15979a19bf068d345630c
  One problem is that cabal-bundler doesn't seem to be outputting test
  dependencies. (I tried manually adding some, not included in my
  commit.) Another is that, even if I add test dependencies manually, I
  end up with strange results like this:

* It's a pity that your approach doesn't allow Cabal-based ports to

  decreasing order of plausability:

  * Is it possible to hand-pick some particularly slow ones, make
packages for them, and then tell Cabal to use those packages? E.g.
aeson takes a while to build.

  * nixpkgs (the only package system I'm really familiar with) deals
with Cabal by automatically generating package descriptions for
everything on hackage. I wonder if something along those lines
would be do-able.

I guess it would be ugly to fill the ports tree with hundreds(?) of
directories each with an auto-generated package. I'm not sure if
there's a way to smoosh it all into one big file. E.g. I see
there's something called "multi-packages", but I'm guessing that's
not designed to handle hundreds of subpackages.

  * Is it possible to cheat, by having all the Cabal-based ports share
their Cabal directory? So if I build darcs then git-annex, Cabal
has access to all the build products from

there are checks for it in build and knowing other things that have
used QtSvg it probably loads at runtime, so use BUILD+RUN_DEPENDS.

It fails with `-fno-common', there's been no update in more than twenty
years, MASTER_SITES is already missing and we fall back to our cdn;
finally, there's a pledged vis(1) in base.

REMOVE: editors/beaver? (-fno-common fix)

2021-02-13 Thread Brian Callahan
Hi ports --

I looked into fixing editors/beaver with -fno-common and it looks like
it will be a lot of effort for a port that has been dead for over 10
years at this point. Plus, we have lots of other lightweight text
editors and if you build with -fcommon, beaver segfaults when trying
to select plugins.

I searched through the other beaver packages that repology.org knows
about and could not find an -fno-common fix (not even someone saying
to just use -fcommon).

Is anyone using it? Should we remove it?

I looked at beaver and it worked with "-fcommon", hence I didn't
propose removal.

But if things crash with existing code and upstream hasn't been active
in eleven years I don't see a point in keeping this.

Yes, you are right, it is worth an update. For now update to 3.22.0 as
newer versions depend on libgnome-games-support, which - I think - is
not in ports. Upstream provided the -fno-common fix.

Run tested on amd64.

Similar history on FreeBSD and OpenBSD: kevlo@ imported it in July
2010, and since then the respective ports have only received
mechanical infrastructure commits. FreeBSD expired it in 2019.

I think this can be deleted, but I'm cc'ing kevlo@, just in case.

includes -fno-common fixes.

While there has been no new official releases, development has moved
to GitHub, where there has been activity ever since the last release.
I chose to move there, and grab the latest head of their git tree.
This additionally sees the game move from SDL to SDL2.

I kept the same installation structure as before.

Works on amd64.

OK?

... I think when a port is replaced ($stem_extenions), it doesn't

There also seem to be much newer versions available.

https://download.gnome.org/sources/atomix/3.34/
atomix-3.34.0.tar.xz519.6 KiB   2019-Sep-09 19:16

That will still need the patch, but might be worth an update anyway?
To catch up with 13 years of changes?

UPDATE: lang/snobol4 2.0 => 2.2.1 (incl. -fno-common fixes)

2021-02-13 Thread Brian Callahan
Hello --

Attached is a patch to update snobol4 to its latest version, which
(among other things) fixes -fno-common issues.

I added the COMPILER line because I ended up ^C'ing trying to build
snobol4 with base-gcc on amd64 for taking way too long. The build
times are reasonable with clang and ports-gcc.

I added SUBST_VARS += V to help reduce PLIST churn in the future.

Things work as expected on amd64.

OK?

lablgtk3 also needed a fix for -fno-common and that’s committed as well. There
was a new point release of lablgtk3 specifically for this issue.

coq and compcert work fine following those two updates.

Speaking in general terms: A lot of the crufty X11 code in the
ports tree has a pattern where they use callback APIs that take a
pointer argument, and if they just want to pass an int, they cast
it to a pointer and back (instead of allocating an int and passing
a pointer to it). That works out fine, no truncation, despite scary
compiler warnings.

IIRC we mostly cleaned up the actual LP64 problems years ago.

I already looked at this. If you build it with -fcommon, it already
isn't playable. That needs to be fixed first--or the port should
be removed.

This is a case where the no-common fix is not obvious. If you look
at the code, the intent appears to have been to have local waitMode
variables in each module. However, they are all merged into a
single common.

If you follow the likely intent, the different instances of waitMode
should be declared static. However, it's entirely possible that
the game logic has come to rely on the accidental merging of the
variables. So this needs testing... for which the game needs to
be playable in the first place.

naddy had a similar diff and same problem. Looking at the compiler
warnings it doesn't exactly seem LP64-clean (or, well, clean at all);
I wonder if it might do better on a 32-bit arch. That said,
there are alternatives like kbreakout / lbreakout2, I'd be OK with
just rm'ing.

Hi,
All consumers were fixed already and gpsd 3.21
 is out. It's not the latest version but 3.22 requires
some more work which I want to do separately.
All dependent ports are building fine, regression tests
are passing.

prometheus 2.24.1 update

2021-02-13 Thread Claudio Jeker
This is an update for prometheus to 2.24.1.
The react UI that needs to be built for prometheus is an extra distfile.
Building the react UI is a nightmare and did not work on OpenBSD last time
I tried.

The tsdb tool got merged into promtool so one less binary to install.

I run this on my collector since this morning and it seems to work.

Oh the xxCONFIGURE_ARGS should just be removed, it was from testing. The
dependencies are not needed unless those args are set. With a git checkout
they are needed in order to generate docs but with a released tarball they
are not.

thanks, some of the diff didn't apply but I have got it into shape,
and adapted a few things (some parts only relevant for builds from
git which isn't needed for proper releases) and committed.

it looks like the upstream ticket with i3-mousedrag is moving again,
so I'm hoping that we'll be able to get rid of i3-mousedrag and
merge into the main port before too long, so it's good to have things
in sync.

Looks like xxCONFIGURE_ARGS is a mistake and it hides build
dependencies.
