Ports using -lossaudio still call open(2) to get a file descriptor
they don't actually use but expect open(2), to succeed.
This diff makes ports open /dev/null instead of /dev/mixer which
ensures programs continue to work after /dev/mixer is removed.

but don't use it; so it could be replaced by /dev/null. It would be

The diff below mostly replaces kernel mixer(4) ioctls with the
corresponding sioctl_open(3) calls.
There's no mute control on all setups, so I've changed dstat to not
fail if output.mute is missing, just display the current volume.

This diff makes libossaudio use sndio instead of the kernel mixer(4)
interface. I post it to ports@ as it's only used by few ports.
Switching libossaudio to sndio implies that programs using it will

This diff makes gqmpeg use sndio to display and control the
volume. This fixes the crash when the volume slider is touched. As a
side effect, this makes gqmpeg use the right device (one that's
playing) and nicely updates the slider position when other programs
change the master volume.

Maybe you've noticed that somtimes sound volume in firefox doesn't
match the volume indicator until you touch it.
This is because the firefox audio API has no volume getter and assumes
the initial volume is 1, while sndio saves volumes and allows volume
