In the prior version of xxxterm, I had to delete what was in the address bar
before I could successfully paste a new address in. No longer have to do
that, so happy with the new version! Will try it on macppc during the week.

it helps adding eye-candy (shadows, transparencies, etc) to X

Yes. This is indeed caused by the freetype update, part of XF4 changes.
xcursorgen to the X11R7.0 modular version, and
provide a new port for xcursor-themes.
This should work in -current, even though I'm not yet done with the
X11R6.9 merge in the base system.
