Okay, alittle bit ago on the list I caught parts of a conversation talking
about using compact flash cards as ram.. I recently purchased a PCCard
Compact reader. And being that I only have 16megs on board I would like to
know how to do this... Anyone willing to give me the short, sweet version?

Hi, Listers,
I picked up a Lombard from ebay a few months back, with supposedly
a faulty keyboard only. Unfortunately, that's not the only problem I
found. The L2 cache is non-functional. The Restart function results in a
dead screen, and the book has to be reset, although Shut down

You'll definitely notice a speed increase if you have the original HD
installed, since you were almost certianly using VM anyway, and all the
swapping to the HD

Have you tried asking the G-Books list, since that's the one that
specifically covers PowerBooks with a G3 processor? No doubt you'll
get better responses from a list dedicated to G3/G4 class laptops...
The Lombard is OT for this list.
Peace,

Today I was at a flea market and found a 5300c for sale for $15. It had a
broken power jack, but it was complete. I figured I could part it out for
more than that if I couldn't get it running.
Well after soldering a new jack onto the motherboard, I reassembled the
machine and tried it out. I

Well, my 5300cs has 16M on the motherboard, meaning this card is a 40M
card. That's kind of an oddball size, and I seem to recall that the 5300
series had a max RAM of 56M. If this is right, I'm going to guess that
this is really a 48M card, intended to be used with the 8M motherboards.
If this is
Could one take a good lid from a 165c and transplant
it onto a working 165c with a defective screen? Or
would any better screen work with the 165c bottom?

OP was looking for more HD space in a 180, and eBay is the place to buy.
Of the larger(!) scsi drives which come up with any degree of regularity,
I'd say the 320mb is the most common with the 500mb/540mb trailing a bit
behind. 320s go for ~$5 on up to ~$50 with $25 a normal result. The
