I'd like to hook up a PB 540 to my router which is setup to assign IP
addresses only to specific devices, using the correspondent
Hardware Ehernet (MAC) address. How do I go and find out what the Harwdare
address of the PB (I connect through the appropriate transceiver to the

I am not sure if this will work under 8.1, but under OS9, the TCP/IP
Control Panel has an Info button. Clicking that button pops a
window dialog that give the MAC Address of the ethernet controller
used by the currently selected TCP option, that is the
Hardware Address.
