Apple's MAIL app, PM is dying a very slow death...
Farewell!
Almost 10-years to the month, June 1999, I've stood with PowerMail. I am
now migrating to Apple's MAIL app. My loyalty to Apple extended to my
loyalty to third-party applications, many of which were not covered
under the current line-up of Apple's iLife collection. For whatever
reason
but once I get my first iPhone next month, for the first
time I can see paying for .Mac, I mean MobileMe.
I'm starting to ask myself how PowerMail is going to fit in this
MobileMe and iPhone future?
Exactly the point of the post to begin with, and as we progress into the
use of the Cloud
I've avoided Apple's Mail application, having been an avid PowerMail
user for 10-years now (since May of 1999)
That's 9-years though.
Picky-Pickerton, so I'm not big on detail, don't let that distract you
from the point.

direction of the future
So, yes, PM is not fully up to date with Mac OS. But doing so would
require to spend 95% of our time rewriting things just to be up to
date. We chose to be up to date for important things (Mac OS 9 - Mac
OS X, PPC - intel...), but not for things that require a lot of work
for a minor feature
I've avoided Apple's Mail application, having been an avid PowerMail

of MobileMe and the mail-push, server-side constant updating of multiple
computers from The Cloud are awfully tempting. The Cloud is the

Just upgraded to latest release, but when I opened new version, I had about
two-weeks of mail missing. Very odd, since (as always) I put a just-saved user
file in back-up, then disconnected my back-up drive. Using my web-based ISP
provided mail right now until I see if I have a two-day old
Apologies if this subject has been brought up before (where are those
archives anyway?) but I need to ask. Initially, Spotlight searching
resulted in showing (under the other category) PowerMail messages with
the subject line in the results. Now (and I can't say when this
happened, but it has

I keep finding myself highlighting certain text or phrases, control-

one of the options. This is happening many times a day, and as helpful
as the Spotlight option might be (to some), I haven't used it at

One feature I would LOVE to see in PM is an option within the contextual-
menu to interface a highlighted word into SherlockDictionary. I
oftentimes find myself copying a word, opening Sherlock, pasting it in
order to verify the definition and proper usage. In advance...
Wondering what the possibilities are of having a script/filter work
together. There are specific tagged (by label/priority) emails that I
would love to have go directly to my printer so employees can process the
information/order without the necessity for me to be there and physically
send to the
Interesting glitch, I would appreciate it if someone else would try this
and see if they get the same outcome. I was trying to revise some of my

I am very hesitant of trying PM5.
If it is any consolation at all, I think those of using PM for many years
and many upgrades will have little or no hesitancy to upgrade. The public

I really love this list and its helpful and very active members. And I
have no problems with humorous comments and a good laugh either. But I
think we could spare ourselves some needless irritation if we could keep

Has anyone used the application CopyPaste? A floating window which
minimizes into a tiny square until the cursor runs over it, then it
exposes a list of previously copied text which can be pasted. I would
love to see PM's TextClipping feature work in this manner.

messages in the In Tray, the In Tray name is in bold and when there are
no unread messages, it's not bold, i.e. the opposite of what it should
be.
If there are unread messages in ANY tray/folder, that tray/folder will
show in BOLD, has been that way as long as I can recall.
Well, now that I play with the idea a bit, couldn't we just add a
contextual menu item for a selection that checks if a highlighted e-mail
address is in the address book?
This is what I am looking for, that the address-user is recognized in the
