Have you attempted the tried-and-true method of holding down the Command
and Option keys while starting PowerMail? Keep the two keys pressed until
a dialog box opens. Check off all five operations in the top section, and
you may as well check off the two boxes in the middle section as well.

Tried Powermail Salvage on a 8000 message database that Powermail will
not open with.
Powermail crashes when I try to import the Powermaial Salvage exchange file!
What is wrong and how do I get my messages back?
An anti-spam thing that I do is to have the auto-fill email address on
my browser set to a bogus email address. This keeps nefarious web sites
from harvesting my real email address without my knowledge.
I'm running 10.4.1 with PowerMail 5.2 build 4388.
Have not had any problems at all, none, zilch, nada.
I did compact and rebuild my database before making a back-up copy and
then opening my mail database in the new version. I then immediately
compacted and did a low level rebuild, just in

Contact TDS Metrocom and ask if they have started blocking port 25.
ISP's typically do this to prevent their users from being spammers.
If Metrocom is blocking port 25 then you have 2 options.
Ask catalog.com to open another listener port on their email server.
I use port 2525. This is rarely
Like many of you, as the expression goes, I have to use a PC at work,

The way I keep my mail up on more than one computer is...
Set the delete messages from server date far enough out
that I collect copies on all my computers by checking

If I want to keep a copy of a sent email, I cc a copy

I just drag the attachment from the message window to my desktop. PM
only moves files from the attachments folder to the trash when deleting
the message. No need to go to the actual attachments folder in the

I like the implementation of the system spell checker in osX Jaguar!
While I find myself adjusting to PowerMail's approach to spellchecking,
I've been curious about the 'check via external application' menu entry.
¿Is there a general consensus regarding the value of external spellcheckers?
Check all these settings.
Set your default account information in the internet preference pane
under email, including PowerMail as the email program. Make sure you have
everything entered including servers, user names, and passwords.
Use the use default settings checkbox on your default account

If you Crash collecting emails, particularly on emails with an

Open the Temp Incoming folder in your PowerMail Files folder and

Then get new mail again. This has always resolved my crash on retrieve

No need to create any kind of Applescript.
While having problems, temporarily uncheck the leave messages on
