Aleximas, I took from jonstahl's earlier comment that this might not be safe. My concern is how Plone would handle converting the existing code for CustomNav and SmartPortlets. What would it convert them to in Plone 4? The default portlets in Plone could be converted, but I don't know if Plone

It looks like I won't be able to use the purge command as portlets.xml doesn't exist in Plone 2.5.3 I am thinking what I need is a python script that would clear out the smart portlets and the custom navigation portlets from the left and right slots. I am not a python programmer. I tried

We are migrating from Plone 2.5.3 to Plone 4. We used a lot of Smart Portlets for news and events. What I am looking at is, removing the Smart Portlets, uninstalling the Smart Portlets product, migrating the data.fs to Plone 4 and then adding in Collection portlets. Is there an easier way? --
