I took from jonstahl's earlier comment that this might not be safe. My
concern is how Plone would handle converting the existing code for CustomNav
and SmartPortlets. What would it convert them to in Plone 4? The default
portlets in Plone could be converted, but I don't know if Plone

Portlets for news and events. What I am looking at is, removing the Smart
Portlets, uninstalling the Smart Portlets product, migrating the data.fs to
Plone 4 and then adding in Collection portlets. Is there an easier way?
