[libreoffice-projects] multilingual TDF planet feeds
Dear all, Some time ago (a long time ago) the decision was made to only have the planet as an English only feed. Meaning, the TDF planet is only in English. In the upcoming website, on its front page (see the specs), we will have a feed for the TDF planet being displayed aside the official blog feed. I would like to seize this opportunity to ask an important task: recreate a full, multilingual TDF planet . I am happy to help select the blogs, but I need your input, you, the native-lang community, in sending or publishing the RSS feeds you'd like to see aggregated. Side question: who runs the existing planet? :-) Thank you, -- Charles-H. Thanks for reviving this :) I would like to have a planet like this one: http://planet.opensuse.org/global/ You can filter it by language (what I don't like are the flags, you know why :), but also you are able to display all languages. Even if you can't read all, I think it has the very positive effect to show the activities and enthusiasm. Side question: who runs the existing planet? :-) I think it's TDF Cheers Sophie -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: projects+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/projects/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

I went to visit the planet -planet software feed aggregator (http://www.planetplanet.org/) that we currently use and I don't see anything that would block us from enriching our own platform, so let's go with it and add more feeds? Best, Charles. Side question: who runs the existing planet? :-) I think it's TDF Cheers Sophie -- Charles-H. My personal take is to not mix up languages, but rather set up one Planet per language. This requires having one maintainer per Planet to maintain the feeds. Setting it up is a rather easy thing. :-) Florian -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: projects+unsubscr...@global.libreoffice.org Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/projects/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted

Hi, Charles-H. Schulz wrote on 2014-01-06 15:01: Okay. Well, I'd like to experiment with the first option: multiple languages on one planet. There are indications that the path we chose first may have been demotivating for some non-English blogging authors :-) I personally feel strongly _against_ such a solution, as having a zillion of languages mixed in the current planet setup will cause nothing but confusion. However, this is just my personal take on that, so - if there are no objections from the community, I won't vetoe. Of course, I assume that we would still need one maintainer per language? Yes, that would help to judge the blog's content, indeed. If you can filter the language you want to read and keep that filter set, I don't see what is disturbing here. You'll see only German, or only Spanish if you want. For me I prefer to see German and Spanish, so we will be both happy :) Of course, I assume that we would still need one maintainer per language?
