You can. EM does it in their proximity reader
Is there in DXP a way to change variant related properties of one component selecting
it from schematic document or can I edit it in Variant window only ? I mean, can I
select a group of component in schematic and tell DXP to 'exclude them from any
variant'?

It's a little thing, but it save ME time.

I might get fired for any more errors 2004 makes. I had previously reported that
loading a netlist was troublesome, I can now report that it is also very unreliable.
On two previous designs, 2004 would not load 0603 components without the library
opened. On a new design I have two
what happens if you place the parts on the pcb before the
netlist load?
won't it match up the designators?
how come you don't post in the DXP forum?
altium might listen to you there more

Dennis,
It works fine if I manually place the component...I ended up do it that way. Matched
ok.

It is now afternoon, the netlist I received this morning is obsolete. No problem.
There are only changes are 4 footprints, SO8 TO SO14. I can handle that I boast to
the customer. I modify his netlist accordingly. Cough Cough Choke, 2004 will not
update the parts no matter what I do. I
This is serious Mike.
I would go back to the old software and get my customer happy first... and
take this up with tech support. Sounds like Protel is still performing true
to form... release it before its done and fix it on the designer's time...
and nickel.
How disappointing...

They have control, theoretically. In practice the DXP forum is not
moderated. They allow criticism. Alleged extended flaming

Mike,
I have seen DXP (SP2 W2k SP4) do something very similar to this. In fact it just
happened to me (again) not 5 mins ago. Add a few parts to the schematic,
work awhile, make some changes, do an update PCB, and the new added parts are not
brought in. I believe I also got a dialog
