I'm using an nVidia Quadro FX 500. No problems so far. Mira --- bob stephens [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I'm using the RADEON 9600 dual head also, and I do have video problems occasionally. I don't think it's the card though, more likely protel bugs. For example, in the design rules window the minimum clearance constraint value is obscured by the text next to (on top of) it. I've seen this sort of thing in several other areas as well. None of them are show stoppers, but they are annoying. Agree with nVidia, they are working quite well. I used GeForce 440MX 64MB and was more than happy. Then I changed to Radeon 9600 128MB dual head that was much faster. Both running without any problems. Hi Linden, To date, all of the machines I've used for Protel have run nVidia based cards without a problem. I've used the following cards, and all ran without hiccups: nVidia Vanta 16mb (not enough memory for anything other than a small design) nVidia GeForce 2 32Mb (still not quite enough memory) nVidia GeForce 4 MX 64Mb nVidia GeForce 4 MX 128Mb nVidia GeForce FX 5200 128Mb (in current machine) None have had dual outputs, but you can easily set up dual outputs in WinXP with a second PCI video card. Greetings all, I have heard that some brands of video cards can show problems when running Protel. Does anyone have any recommendations as to whose video boards work well and those I should steer clear of? I'm not after the latest and greatest video gamers mega-card just something that will reliably display Protel PCBs and Schematics preferably upgradable to a dual monitor setup (either a board with 2 outputs or the ability to operate with 2 seperate boards) Best Regards, Linden Doyle Product Development Engineer Zener Electric Pty Ltd. _ This e-mail has been scanned for viruses by MCI's Internet Managed Scanning Services - powered by MessageLabs. [PEDA] Net with large clearance and polygon
Help please. I want to set the net EARTH to have a clearance of 97mil. This is no problem, but when I place a EARTH net Polygon Pour it stays away from everything, including the EARTH Through Hole Pads by 97mils. Cannot figure out how to edit the rules so the Polygon will stay away from all nets by 97mils except EARTH net which should default to the rule for polygon clearance of 12mil. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To post a message: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] * * To leave this list visit: * http://www.techservinc.com/protelusers/leave.html * * Contact the list manager: * mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] * * Forum Guidelines Rules: * http://www.techservinc.com/protelusers/forumrules.html * * Browse or Search previous postings: * http://www.mail-archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED] * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Re: [PEDA] Video Board Recommendations ?
Why do you say that? I use Matrox video cards almost exclusively for my workstations and have never had a problem with the drivers or hardware and their dualhead operation is the best I've run across so far. I do use Win2K for my own systems, but I have built a few for other people with WinXP and not had any troubles... so I guess I'm curious. Matt Pobursky Maximum Performance Systems Also, keep in mind that Matrox flopped with their 3D capabilities being too slow expensive compared to the competition, their new focus is solely on their real time broadcast video editing switching. In the downsizing, the no longer have the same development team they use to have. Don't expect them to address 2D desktop driver related issues as fast as NVidia. Re: [PEDA] 99SE layout question
Daniel Weiss wrote: Hi The 99SE PCB layout program seems to *not* DRC a power supply layer. I am asking on behalf of our layout man, is there a way to have it do a proper DRC on power layers as well? It happend to us that two power supplies got shorted because the gap width between them was inadvertently set to zero. It does do a check on power layers, but there is a deficiency in the algorithm when it comes to holes that are partially in the border between split plane regions. Normally, I think you DO get some kind of complaint if split plane regions OVERLAP, but maybe the same problem occurs when the regions are extremely close. I think it is pretty well known that the handling of through holes connecting to split planes is not 100% airtight, and so you have to watch out for design practices that allow you to fall into these traps.
