Techserv's Internet Service Provider apparently had a link outage yesterday,
and so all outgoing mail was returned. Their automated mailing list
software assumed that all the bouncing mail was due to the recipient's
account being closed, and is in the process of kicking everybody off the
list. That's the sort of problem you run into when you let computers
do things automatically. When everything works correctly, it does the
right thing, removing grunt work from people. When something goes
wrong, they make a lot of grunt work for poeple to clean up the mess!

Re: [PEDA] Removal From List

2001-09-06 Thread Ted Tontis

I just received the same message. This is the second time I received it this
year. I brought this to the attention of the group when I first received it
about 6/7 months ago. Our IT guy says it is because tech serv is trying to
route through our server. Our e-mail server is set not to allow routing and
there for tech serv receives a error every time they try to use us as a
router. I would suggest at this time to talk to your IT guys and find out
what your settings are for routing through your e-mail server. This forum is
too important to me, so I just deal with it now. Tech serv had no answers
for me the last time I brought it up to them, they most likely have no
answer this time ether.

included in the mails from this list, so our mailserver can not solve
the ip-adress and gives up after a while. now this repeats and loops
it is definitly an error from the mailing list server.
