While i would be tempted to say the current Gen air with the 2.0GHZ processor and 8 gb of ram would be sufficient, if its going to be your only machine i'd say go with the mac book pro. I own a mid 2011 air with 1.8GHZ processor, 4GB of ramm and i can mix on it no problem wit aproject
