I have found that if I do not delete the i'll, and empty the trash, it does
not work. So backing it up and have actually been a mistake because the file

Sorry,
I touched cancel on my iPhone and apparently it thought I meant send!
TO be more clear, when I've done this in the past, I've deleted the
.plst file, and removed it from trash before rebooting. I suspect you
making a backup of the file prior to rebooting was the problem here.
In my
Oh, bit of confusion here! Looks like the nudge commands on the keypad are -
and +, not 1 and 2 like I wrote… Sorry for that! I’ve been reading PT-related
stuff for quite a few hours now, seems like I got to the point where I start
mixing things up… :-)

Hi,
thanks for pointing me in the right direction! After some Googling, I found
various posts by people having the exact same problem, however most of them are
quite dated (2007 and earlier). I found the tip about removing
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.symbolichotkeys.plist so I backed up the
Hi everyone,
OK, so I’ve been able to record some stuff in PT 11, play around with various
options and everything seems pretty good so far! Now, I actually wanted to
select part of a track I recorded and then cut that out. I can make a selection
with the down and up arrow keys just fine, but
Hi Robin,
Glad you've found the correct shortcuts for nudging from the keyboard.
FYI though, you'll definitely want to pick up an external numpad if
you're going to make Pro Tools your daily driver. It's something I
can't really imagine living without. PT isn't as customizable as other

I've had this happen to me at times when I switch keyboards, or use a
wireless/Bluetooth KB.
There is a symbolic hotkeys files that needs deleted and preferences

can when I'm back today, but if you google the issue it should pop
Hi Jon,
This aspect of plug-in operation isn't accessible at this time as there is no
keyboard shortcut equivalent. It's not even possible using a control surface,
to the dismay of many users. It's one of those things that would be nice but it
ain't gonna happen in the foreseeable future.
One thing I forgot to mention is that you could theoretically create a screen
position macro with Keyboard Maestro and use a physical mouse to perform the
sweeping action but I'm not sure how well that would work necessarily but, if
you're a Keyboard Maestro user, it might be an interesting
You should be able to press 3 on the numb pad as well FYI. That is what I use.

Hi Robin,
As Scott mentioned, you'll definitely want to get the Apple Pro keyboard. The
numeric keypad is indispensable and, while there are blue Tooth keypads out
there, you won't be able to use modifiers from one Blue Tooth device to modify
key clicks from another Blue Tooth device so it
