Just a note on fixing this. On the Yamaha electric piano I was using,
there was both a soft and sustain pedal on the pedal board. Out of the
sake of having nothing left to try, I simpley switched where the two
pedals were connected in the back thereby using the soft pedal and all
works as
Hi Matt,
burning a audio track is the way to go.
This way in the future you can always count on the audio being there! LOL
Heres what I do all the time with slate trigger.
from the instrument track choose a send then choose the new track option.
next decide mono or aux or audio track.
next name it
Matt,
Previously there was an issue with Yamaha type sustain pedals being wired
different than Roland type pedals. Could that be the issue here? Just a shot in
the dark….. In that case, the pedal will work the way you describe, totally
different from what you’d expect….
Best,

I think this is a bug in Mini Grand, oddly enough.
Try instantiating Xpand 2 and pick one of their pianos. Not as good, but still
worth the test. See if the same thing happens.

Kevin, it responds if the pedal is just permanently held down.but otherwise
it's almost like every hit comes down perfectly on the click with no sustain
whatsoever.

Good morning, even with midi merge set to off the problem persists. The only
way that the piano sounds normal, is if the track is armed and I'm holding down
the sustain pedal.i've tracked virtual piano several times without this
happening though it has happened to me once before and I scrapped
Same behavior! Interestingly enough, I opened a project from July with many
grand instantiated, and played it back and it plays back perfectly fine it's
about six minutes of piano

Matt,
Have you looked at the track to see how the controller #64 data has been
captured? I'm not sure what's been recorded/captured via MIDI but, if holding
down the pedal yields the desired result, insert a controller #64 event On at
the beginning of the piece and see if that duplicates the
I'll give that a look when I get back home this afternoon. Thanks so much for
all the help.

Hi Matt,
I'm just going into a session but will be done at around 3 P.M. If you have
further issues, save an SMF and send it to me and I'll try a few things.

Hi all,
wondering if anyone has seen this behavior. In both PT 10 and 11, I
create a virtual instrument track, and instantiate the mini grand
plugin. I arm the track, and record a pass and when I play it back,
it was as if I didn't use the sustain pedal. However, if I press play
while holding the
Hi Matt,
This is a known and quite infamous bug that has been in Pro Tools since, wait
for it, version 7. Yes, that's right. I truly have no idea why this bug still
hasn't been squashed. Anyway, don't hold your breath but here's a work-around:
Don't use MIDI Merge. That kind of sucks for those
