[QGIS-Developer] Gps connect
Good evening, I am trying to connect an external GPS to QGIS 3.26.1 I selected COM4 as serial (the one where gps is ) But, if I press the "Connect" button, QGIS answers "Impossibile connettersi al gps" Could I find some log or message to understand what I wrong? [QGIS-Developer] How to save a DXF 3D using pyQgis ?
Good evening to all, as in object, there is a way to save a DXF from a 3D polygon layer, using pyQgis ? I am using: QgsVectorFileWriter.writeAsVectorFormat(layer, file, "UTF-8", crsCrs, "DXF", overrideGeometryType=QgsWkbTypes.PolygonZ,skipAttributeCreation=True) but (also it works with other file types) the option "overrideGeometryType" seems to be irrilevant with DXF, and it saves in 2D. Someone can help me to discover the correct syntax ? [Qgis-developer] About QGIS-*.DMP files in Temp folder on Windows
Good morning, purging my PC, I found 1595 files named "qgis-*.dmp" in my Temp folder. Totally, they amount to 36 giga of space :( For example, I have many of: myUSER\AppData\Local\Temp\qgis-20140915-160805-11200-8480-c3a2817.dmp each of 23 mega. So, for each quitting of QGIS since 2.18 from september 05 2014 I had a crash (also without any plugin installed). Also, randomically I had crashes. So, now I am deleting these files, to have space sufficent in my PC to work. I hope this can be sufficient for you to start a good debug of this problem, that I have reported more than once. If you need, I can share that files with you (also if I don't know how). [Qgis-developer] Sandboxing python
Good morning, somebody has experience with sandboxing ? This is an urgence of our program. An important competition for software provision to public authority is ongoing, and a request is the sw reliability. So, who of us knows how to armour python ? Tell me. > > We also want to promote a plugin repository that contains code that won't > remove all files from a user's hard drive or worse > I think this is a crime, and it is punishable by law, so there would be a problem only for a simple plugin, but for any program, open source, free, and other. So, unless we do not want to question again the world of programming, this is a false problem, I thought was passed in open source minds. I developed iPhone app, and one that I deeply loathed is the approval mechanism of the app through the Apple Store. But in that case it was justified (and history has shown this) because iPhone and smartphones in general are becoming a kind of credit card, with all the necessary safety precautions necessary. But in the case of a gis, open or not, the maximum damage that a plugin can do is produce the prints off the press sheet. Rather, I would see the most important working upstream python environment, and the plugin to work in a sand-safe box. The plugin approval phase is now only a sort of prior censorship, given into the hand of a dark presenteeism that moves according to his personal sympathies, with its time and its summary judgments. That aside, let's describe what I think should happen: 1) In the upload page of the plugin should be included a clear warning that explains what the rules (possibly in several languages). 2) Only after you have answered affirmatively to the request for acceptance of the rules, and having filled a registry programmer, which assumes its responsibilities clear (thus taking away from the main program) the programmer can send the plugin. 3) On dobrebbe servers exist an automatic procedure (antivirus, automatic control sources to figure out harmful instructions, etc.) that warns the existence of problems. 4) The plugin is immediately available to users, who can report in case of malfunctions. 5) The GIS program has a python version controlled, which prevents damage to the operating system and more. This is what I think should be done, not to be left to the stone age. :) Best regards Roberto ___ Qgis-developer mailing list Qgis-developer@lists.osgeo.org List info: http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-developer Unsubscribe: http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-developer

But the problem is, instead, another, and I have a curiosity: what is the real danger you think can happens from an open gis ? You really have discussed this ?;) I don't think you are serious. I have, instead a real problem you need to discuss: You well know that there is an important problem with SHP corruption. True ? I know this is true. And also you know. And, you know there is a "minidump" problem at exit, and randomically during running. And this problem is a memory problem. True ? You well know this is true. Also I know that nobody knows from what these bugs depend. Well, I think the efforts and discussions must be used to discover these problems, instead of plugin approvation, without any technical preparation. Not ? Or, if you need a responsibility to give, let it be python and the plugins. But, you are out of road. Look better in C++ source code, expecially where memory pointers are not released, and used out of functions. Perhaps. Re: [Qgis-developer] QEP about Multimap support for QGIS
Alvaro, as I can see in github repository, at: https://github.com/qgis/QGIS/compare/master...ahuarte47:Feature_MultimapView As I can see, your MultimapView will change many calls, adding parameters. I suppose therefore that almost all plugins will have to take account of these new parameters and need to be changed, it is no longer compatible. Re: [Qgis-developer] Stability (2.8 LTS) vs development (3.0), a proposed way forward
Yes yes yes. +1 but also +999 :) Roberto 2014-11-10 2:27 GMT+01:00 Mathieu Pellerin nirvn.a...@gmail.com: Guys, The recent thread Nyall kick-started with his “QGIS 3.0?” email got me to think about the eternal stability vs. development dilemma it (re-)exposed through the conversation. More specifically, it got me to brainstorm on the best way forward for QGIS at this juncture and whether there's a way to accommodate both the folks calling for a 2.8 LTS version, and others in need for space to further develop and expand QGIS' capability. And, I might just have found a way to do so. Here's the proposal, in a couple of points: - We make the 2.8 development cycle “fix and refinement”-only, and reduce the cycle's length to 6 to 8 weeks; - The reduced cycle will help everyone's focus on the above goal; - We append the freed 8-10 weeks to the subsequent development cycle, which would become QGIS 3.0; - The expanded cycle will help give space to develop some of the exciting features being cooked by developers (Nyall's Layouts, Marco's Geometry redesign, etc.) and bulletproof those. This, IMHO, caters to both groups demanding stability and space for development. It doesn't discourage or delay too much the grand scheme changes, and pushes out a 2.8 version focused on stability through a shorter cycle focusing on delivering a perfected tool. The above proposal does require a momentary lapse of the nice 4-month release cycle rhythm which the QGIS has successfully maintained for three releases now. But, it might actually be what's needed at this very time. Plus, the length of the two cycles stays the same, 8 months. Comments? I'm obviously particularly interested in what Jürgen has to say :) Cheers Math ___ Qgis-developer mailing list Qgis-developer@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-developer ___ Qgis-developer mailing list Qgis-developer@lists.osgeo.org http://lists.osgeo.org/mailman/listinfo/qgis-developer
