If you want to have a collaborative platform where multiple users can edit
the same data, you can consider https://merginmaps.com/
Each user can edit the data and when they sync the changes from QGIS, the
platform consolidate the changes from multiple sources. It can work fully
offline as well.
organization who benefits from using free and open source
QGIS, it is time to ask them to contribute, because free software costs
money to develop and maintain. Without your support, it will not be
possible to add features like these.

Dear QGIS users,
We have started a new crowdfunding campaign to improve tools for elevation

Your help is much appreciated to make this happen.

Not directly answering your question, but https://inputapp.io is based on
QGIS and you can transfer your whole project with associated data to your
Android or iOS device. The app works fully offline and you can still
collect data. When you have data connectivity, you can sync your changes.
Kind
to run and host your synchronisation/storage
service using the rich and robust Mergin service for data collection.

I agree with Bernhard. Last time, it was done through QEP and no real
feedback from users. The change to the node tool behaviour requires input
from experienced users who do digitizing in their day-to-day works. I
suggest to have the draft proposal as a blog post on QGIS.org to get more

https://lists.osgeo.org/pipermail/qgis-developer/2018-October/055034.html
We are hoping the write a QEP later this week and start the discussion with
the developers and wider community.
