It should support authentication for private repos but might currently be a bit buggy or broken depending on the methods used, but you can use local/network filepaths or only expose the repository internally. It's worth going through the available documentation on it though and is a great method

Usually for individual projects you can embed the svg in the project file itself using the drop down options from the svg path selection area. If you're using the same svgs for multiple files though, I would strongly suggest setting up a repository for them and adding them using the resource
