Dear all
I face the same problem, ECW data not supported...
I tried both on a WinXP workstation and on a Netbook with W/ onboard.
Installed Qgis 1.7.2 trough osgeo4w-setup, with gdal-ecw 1.8.0.1.
My qgis.bat says:
@echo off
SET OSGEO4W_ROOT=d:\OSGeo4W
call %OSGEO4W_ROOT%\bin\o4w_env.bat
call
Dear Paolo
thanks for you reply,
by the way, can you suggest a way to solve my problem?
I Think I followed the hints found around your mailing list without
success...
If I solve my problem I can collaborate to describe the walktrough in your
next entry in the FAQ ;-))
Thanks

Ok, a bit better..
Just reinstalled the 4.2 version of ERDAS SDK, copied 4dlls from
redistributable to osgeo4w/bin
Now from the shell gdalinfo --formats I can see the ECW extension.
Qgis now can load ecw (they are between its extension list), but if I try to
open one of them Qgis crashes..
What
If I download the 4.1 version by ERDAS website (called
ECWJP2SDKSetup_20100920.exe) and I install this SDK, then under both
redistributable and \bin\vc90 there isn't NCSEcw4_RO.dll.
Without this dll I get two errors by gdalinfo --formats (that cannot find
it).
This dll is under the 4.2 version of
Ok but, as i wote above, there must be some error on ERDAS website.
The link I followed is
http://www.erdas.com/products/ecw/ERDASECWJPEG2000SDK/Downloads.aspx
Then
ERDAS ECW/JP2 SDK Desktop Read-Only, Version 4.1
Download now!
Then, after some email confirmation, I received a file that is
Hello Jürgen
which kind of compressed raster do you use instead of ECW (if you use
any..??
Thanks

Dear Qgis users
I'm in trouble with the GPS BT connection to qgis - Windows7.
Bluetooth GPS is on COM6, It works, tested with arcpad.
When I go to qgis 1.7.2 and try to activate the GPS on com6 (GPS Live Track)
the button remains pressed but nothing happens, no message.
On QGis 1.9.9, on the
Hy Nick, Thanks!
I solved the problem using 4 dll distributed by ERDAS with SDK 4.1 READ ONLY
NCScnet4.dll
NCSEcw4_RO.dll
NCSUtil4.dll
tbb.dll
If I don't use NCSEcw4_RO.dll I get errors by gdalinfo --formats.
The problem is that by the ERDAS website they redirect you to an SDK 4.1
(they say
Hi all
I'm beginning to use qgis for my daily work and i found a strange behaviour
when I compose a map for the pdf/print output.
If I add a vector legend the map compositor become slow and I found the
legend height automatically set to something like 3.35126e+292, while legend
width is correct.
I
Sorry, but I'm not able in developing code..

Hello list
I'm looking for some help for interpolation of point data values with qgis.
I use to interpolate data with spline techniques, so I'm trying to use the
grass plugin (v.surf.bspline).
After the creation of a grass mapset the grass tools are available, I found
the module v.surf.bspline but
Ok,
after a conversion to grass vector layer i get an error saying:
ERROR: Need either 3D vector or layer and column with z values
The vector layer has a column named ripelite that qgis read as double.
in Grass the same error
v.surf.bspline -c input=pippopippo@mapsetprova raster=provaspline
Thanks Giovanni
the layer parameter wasn't added automatically by grass and it was selected
by default.
I opened a tiket in qgis bug tracker for the grass plugin problem

Hello Werner Macho
I'm working in Windows XP and all the software I use are installed trough
Osgeo4W installer..
I didn't compile any part of the installation and usually every upgrade to
libs comes from the same installer.
If there is any other way please that integrate manually recompiling and
Ok
as I said GDAl is 1.9.0.2 and ecw libs are 1.8.0.1 so proably I have to wait
until all libs are upgraded..
Thanks again

Hi Andre
my problem is that GDAL is used by QGis and both these programs are
installed trough Osgeo4W setup.
So, how can I make qgis installed that way use GDAL installed as standalone?
Doesn't it collide with the one given by Osgeo4W, that is installed too?
Thanks

Good morning everybody
In the past I used to symbolize my vector layers with svg symbols in QGIS on
windows and Qgis server on debian.
All I had to do was to create a folder in my windows PC "myfolder" and to
create a folder with the same name on debian under /usr/share/qgis/svg/ (i.e
