By the way, talking of ED disk drives - the QL formats them at 3.2Mb (we
know), whereas the PC formats them at 2.8Mb (and the BIOS only recognises
them as 2.8Mb) - does this mean that if I put an ED disk drive in my PC,
QPC will not be able to use QL formatted ED disks???

As far as I know SMSQ/E does support ED drives if present, at least mine.
Real matter is to find PC with such drives : I never saw one ! I think only
IBM ones were shipped with this drives. I think this is a reason why disks
were so hard to find ... and expensives.
A pity because there was no

And if you have an extra SGC maybe Someone???

Darren,

I have recently entered the QL world. I bough myself a Q40 because I felt

and from my perspective, its more fun to develop operating system with
real hardware then a emulator.

I'll show him some of the Z80 machine code routines I wrote on a 1K Zx-81
some day... ;-))
I remember coding Space invaders on a 1K ZX-81, but it wouldn't fit, so I
recoded it to fit into the shadow ROM at 8192 instead.
Or course, you never get people arguing over the QL;-)) (back on

Advanced Spectrum Machine Languge (or similar) was a great book. It had

Just a small addition:
The fact that I happened to intervene after Marcel's comments

I am surprised because the same Z88 - QL transfer worked
also very well for me, at 9600 baud. However IIRC the speed
was not about 960 cps, it was very much less than this, so
maybe the Z88 is slow enough for the QL? However I did my
cable by myself and don't remember exactly the wiring.

For me the reference in my hobby is not Q40/60 or QPC,
it is QDOS/SMSQ and the man who developped QDOS/SMSQ
who is neither Claus or Marcel or Peter. And this man
decided that both QPC and Q40 were good enough platforms
for his life's work. Hence I have no preference between
Q4P0C either. And wish
