The Q40 SMSQ/E does not say that anthing other than WIN1_ can be used with the WIN_FORMAT command. But if you enter WIN_FORMAT 1 and try FORMAT WIN2_, you get a Access Denied error message. So the correct syntx for WIN_FORMAT is WINFORMAT win_drive This assumes that the WNx_ device has been

Hi Richard I was talking about using a CDRW writer from SMSQ/E. I have used CD writers on Linux on PCs, so on the Q40 Linux, it should be the same. I am sorry to say that I prefer SMSQ/E to Linux, but then again, I prefer Linux to Windows Derek

I'm still having problems with the Syquest and it keeping a partition. I also found that copying from the Syquest to win1_ caused win1_ to be corrupted. I'm also starting to wonder about the Q40 manual. I formatted HD like this Partition 1 (/dev/hda1) QWA QDOS1 Partition 2
