Hello,
I have just installed all the 23 packages of Qmail toaster on Fedora core 6
i386 and I have some questions to ask since I'm new to Qmail secrets.
1. After installation does the clamav start automatically to interact with
Qmail? I ask this because I saw the following processes
This is a dns issue. I have had lot's of them in early days of qmail
installation.
Your dns is not resolving correctly incoming ip addresses and thus it
takes a lot of time (until timeout occurs) when connecting to pop3

I might have done the djbdns wrong.
Do i really need it?
Where do i find a simple howto, more examples than the one in the setup
instruction.
Thanks for your reply

If it is a case of when you click send and receive on a mail client, it
takes a long time before it checks it is probably the pop3 run file and not
necessarily dns, although it may be dns related. The solution below solved
slow pop3 login.
I had this problem in the past and it had to do with
Thanks for the tip, but it hadnt any effect.
If you look at this:

Make dns entry:

private._domainkey IN TXT k=rsa; p=MEwwDQY . . . to end of key
(NOTE QUOTATION MARKS MUST BE THERE)
DJBDNS
I done everything as it says in
http://www.qmailtoaster.com/centos/cnt50/very-quick-install.txt
The actual (make from your-domain-dk.txt) file i made seems to be under
/root
TinyDNS is something i have not, even i installed the djbdns localcache.

Hai,
can we do the repos just for other packages which not came from DJB
like simscan, vpopmail, clamav, spamassassins, squirrelmail,control-panel
zlib, qmailmrtg.. and.. autorespond what else ?? (are courier-* also)
I know these ones its from djb..
qmail, ezmlm, djbdns, ucspi-tcp, what else...
If you are interested: I have repos for SuSE 9.3 i586, openSuSE 10.1
i586/x86_86 and openSuSE 10.2 i586/x86_86 - for internal use. I could remove
the DJB things and offer a link to the packages.
Best regards,

Hi,
I have installed qmail toaster on fedora core 6.I want to use the MySql
solution for relay so I did the following:
I run the mysql-setup.sh script with this modifications.
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON vpopmail.* TO [EMAIL PROTECTED] identified by 'qwerty';

I take it you restarted qmail? In which case it will be dns related. I
don't have the djbdns module installed on my QMT so I can't really say.
Basically, find your domains zone file which is probably in
/var/djbdns/tinydns/root/data. and add the key. I'm not sure that is a key
issue though.
Hi,
The difference is [EMAIL PROTECTED] versus [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Either change your grant to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
or change your vpopmail.mysql from localhost to mailhost2

Hi Jean Paul,
I just did the change in the vpopmail.mysql file and now the contents of the
file are:
mailhost2|0|vpopmail|qwerty|vpopmail
I stopped and started again the Mysql server with:
# /etc/init.d/mysqld stop
# /etc/init.d/mysqld start
Then I tried again but I had the same

Yes, you can limit to 30 messages at the same time. Adjust your

Did you stop and start qmail afterwards? A good reboot is always safe.
Look at the wiki - it has a couple sections on DNS in there. There are
not any instructions for Cent5 yet, so look at the Cent4 install for the
djbdns portion.
If you try :
mysql -u vpopmail -pqwerty vpopmail -h mailhost2
It should work.

Hello Mark
did you change the password within mysql ?
log into your mysql server and change password there
or do it through mysqladmin command line

It really is odd you get back @localhost
It should always give back the hostname you are connecting too..
Please check your mysql commandline ..

I ment - readd it in case you did a typo
and check the mysql.user table, make sure the vpopmail user has as Host
mailhost2
(if that's what you want) . would be better to use locahost or add both
once with TO [EMAIL PROTECTED] ... and TO [EMAIL PROTECTED] ...

If I am not mistaken the mysql server is on a different host, hence the
mailhost2.

Hi,
I changed again the password with this:
mysql set password for [EMAIL PROTECTED] = PASSWORD('qwerty');
Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec)
Then exit and
# mysqladmin -uroot -pqwerty reload
# mysqladmin -uroot -pqwerty refresh
but again the same error :(
# mysql -u
Ah ok that explains
and mark what does the command : host mailhost2 replies,
you have a mailhost2 defined in your /etc/hosts file or a search entry
in your resolv.conf file ?

Hi guys,
Jean Paul: Mysql db is on mailhost2, I'm working locally.
Philip: I did a query to mysql.user and found that I already have TWICE user
vpopmail, once with Host value 'localhost' and the second with 'mailhost2'
value. Should this cause any kind of conflict or as you suggest I can
I have a search in the /etc/resolv.conf and the nameserver for our two DNS
servers.
In /etc/hosts I have this too:

But I have this

Hey
You can have both
if it is a host issue ... (looks weird though) try as a testing purpose
to have % as Host for the user vpopmail
see if that works (if it does, the password is encrypted fine then)

First I'd like to ask if it is necessary to have two vpopmail users. Does it
make any sense? why not only one with Host mailhost2 ?
Second I changed the vpopmail user who has Host localhost to %
mysql update user set Host='%' where Host='localhost';
Query OK, 3 rows affected (0.00 sec)
It isnt necessary
specially if it is all local, localhost should be enough

hmmm you didnt install and make an update like had old-passwords feature

Try to create a testdb, add a user and see if that works (use locahost)
you have a password set for the root user ?

No, I din't alter the my.cnf file even the start script but I have good news:
I drop the vpopmail table and create it again and after that I can log in !
Don't ask me, I have no idea what was wrong with the old one.
The steps I follow to recreate it:
# mysqladmin create vpopmail
You have a backup of your ex/brocken :) database you did with mysqldump
maybe ?
if you dont well,. the tables will be created when you add a newdomaim

so you have nothing else to do
