The software construct of Squirrelmail makes it difficult to make themes
for. As noted the core must be hacked to modify the look.
I have been testing @mail. It's pretty good. It installs easily and
seems to work well. It has a couple of quirks. You have to use the all
of the buttons
squirreloutlook, is based on squirrelmail and they hack squirellmail
core so the interface can be look like outlook
it's not just another theme. and what bugging me is, squirrelmail is
based on old version squirrelmail and never try to upgrade it to latest
version.

I have tried RoundCube and it is ok, although it doesn't have as many
functions as squirrelmail. But it looks lot nicer :)

Nutsmail looks like the cleanest, most modern looking option to me, but
that's just my .02

I installed the outlook theme as described by Andreas, but it doesn't
quite look like the screenshot in Sourceforge.
Have you used any of these?

nice,easy to install, fresh clean interface, easy to use. I'll give
