Re: [QUAD-L] Don't Park In The Handicap Spot
Amen, Since I have a power chair and someone to drive me, I would feel guilty if I saw a paraplegic trying to find a parking place while I had taken up a space I didn't really need. Re: [QUAD-L] Don't Park In The Handicap Spot
I saw on Good morning America where a woman of a disabled child takes pictures of those who illegally park in the marked spaces and files complaints with the police dept. She also shows up for all of the court dates and has helped find most of them guilty. This was in New Jersey I think and has even taken a few football players to court. Re: [QUAD-L] Don't Park In The Handicap Spot
Now, now - not everyone is like us in wheelchairs. My MS is called an invisible disability for most sufferers. Heart attack patients can also get the permits because they can't walk long distances. My son refuses to use those spots even if I am with him. Says he will push me. He needs the exercise. KK Did you hear about the dyslexic satanist? He worshiped Santa.

Re: [QUAD-L] Don't Park In The Handicap Spot
I love this persons reply from the site: -- - The whole point of a gimp spot is so that someone who uses a wheelchair can get the damn thing out of the car/van/truck,THAT’S what the extra (cross-hatched)space is FOR,particularly someone with a lift who can’t get out otherwise and would get blocked in without that extra space being respected.I can’t count how many time some asshole has parked on the cross-hatching making impossible for me to get back into my car (without getting someone to move it or waiting for the asshole). They always reply the same way,no apology just some lame excuse. The same one I hear when I have to wait outside a larger stall in an airport shitter for the guy to wipe his ass mid-turd because I pounded on his door saying “you better be in a wheelchair!” . I always asks “do you know why they build this bigger stall?” they never answer the question and rarely apologize, way too many actually get mad. Back to parking spots,I think people who need a van with a lift or ramp or extra space for a WHEELCHAIR would love a spot at the far end of the parking lot that the lazy,”sore-toes” or lazy sore-toes wouldn’t use leaving them open for people who actually NEED them. To answer the people that think there are too many spots that nobody ever uses which makes them frustrated (whaaainnh!) To gimps like me the spots are always FULL with people that can walk and are very far from needing a wheelchair. They start limping extra heavy when I cruise by from the other end of the parking lot where I had to park against a curb or wall where no-one can block me in. -- OK, enjoy your evening everyone...this made mine. Re: [QUAD-L] Don't Park In The Handicap Spot
Whenever that happens to me, I act a little retarded and keep crashing into their car trying to get to my van. 'Oh my gosh! Did my chair cause all those scratches and dents to your car? I'm so sorry. I was just trying to get in my van'. Re: [QUAD-L] Don't Park In The Handicap Spot
It is actually easier for me to park my boyfriends van at the lower end of the parking lot. he is on a vent and it gives us a little more privacy to suction or empty caths if needed. Plus I park sideways in 2 spots so that we are not blocked in. Looks like I cant drive but no one can get near the door that way to block it. My daughter is not paralyzed but is in a wheel chair at times if we have to go shopping. She can walk short distances and we do sometimes park in the handicapped spots so she can walk in. Then we grab a chair at the door. To anyone else..she would look normal. But walking across the parking lot is a journey for her. So things are not always as they seem. I do agree that some people park in the handicapped spots when they shouldn't. But some of those folks have heart conditions and things that just may not be visble to all of us.
