I USED TO DRINK MOUNTAIN DEW AND YES IT
MADE MY URINE SMELL AS DOES ANY POP. I DRINK WATER ONLY. TODAY IS 4
DAYS SINCE MY CYSTOSCOPY AND URINE IS CLEAR AS WATER WITH NO ODOR. IT JUST
FEELS SO GOOD TO KNOW I HAD A PROBLEM AND NOW IT'S GONE!

IS YOUR DR A UROLOGIST OR GENERAL PRACTICE? EVEN
THOUGH THE ULTRASOUND SHOWED NO STONES YOU MAY HAVE SOMETHING ELSE GOING ON THAT
ONLY CAN BE SEEN BY LOOKING INSIDE THE BLADDER.

JUST A THOUGHT.

I wish I could figure out what was causing my sediment problems. I just had
an ultrasound yesterday and receive the good news that I had no stones. I was
pretty sure I had some, but I was told just to keep irrigating and drinking
the water. I tend to have smelly urine and I believe this is because I drink

I hate these body changes (or aging...lol).
Sediment began 10 yrs post. Tried everything from Clorpactin
to vinegar irrigating to acidic drinks, cran capsules ... ad
nauseum. Lived with that till 1998 when it got better for NON
APPARENT reason.

BUT THAT stopped and continuous UTIs began. Rather have
sediment no UTI.

Sediment returned 3 months ago. ugh!

I was 99 lbs after my 15 months in the hospital post injury but
still had a belly. I began wearing girdle or support panel
underwear and jeans. I gained as the yrs went by and wore
tighter girdles - no skin problems. Then I began to use binder
about 6 yrs ago. I need it for breathing whilesitting up
too.

Now, in 3 yrs I've had 2 bad wounds but neither started out
from pressure. I'm still battling one in the butt/thigh
crease. The wound is ok but the area around it is
cranky. Red or rashy or seepy... depending on what IT feels
like doing.

And I just found out I have a UTI (Proteus - big one) so am on
a new antibiodic (new for me).

I am almost 10 years post injury and it seems some things change continuously. I did experience problems with my catheter and occasionally still have problems with it clogging up for some unknown reason. Going five years without a bowel incident is pretty darn good. I could say that I went a long also, but every incident I have had has usually been the result of my bowel regimen not being completed properly. Over the last few years I have noticed that despite being only a couple of pounds heavier I am having more and more difficulty trying to prevent (what I now believe to be the inevitable) Quad gut. Just when I think I have about everything figured out, something changes and I am learning all over again. On the brighter side, maybe this prevents boredom.

Sounds very familiar! Yeah, about every 10 years or everytime a 0 is at the
end of and age, things seem to head south and it takes longer to bounce back
from things--like being in bed for a pressure sore, a surgery or just a
stomach ache. I definitely cannot just hop in the chair and go full steam
anymore. Tried that and could hardly move the next day!

What used to work does not, what used to not work does now and gave up
guessing why a long time ago!
take care,

Dana and ?

Yes. Gravity (especially after 50) is not kind. My waist has expanded,

I can concur with you. Excessive weight gain, extraordinary
body spasms near mid section and legs, and symptoms of kinked catherer hose when
sitting up in chair causing unwanted wetting.

Re: [QUAD-L] BODY CHANGING 6 YRS POST

2004-12-12 Thread Win

I'm nearly 30 years post, and I haven't experienced problems like you
mention. However, over time, I have found that my spasms have become
stronger. But that is due, I think, because I'm less active than I was
when I was younger.
And going 5 years with no bowel accident? Wow, I think you might be
unique :S I don't think you should worry about just one accident. Now if
it happens again then you could start asking questions
Did you change any medications 5 months ago? Either stopping something,
or adding something new? When was the last time you took any antibiotics?
In my case, when I take antibiotics, I start having bladder problems
which last for a couple of months. Once my bladder starts producing its
own bacteria, then I'm alright again.
Bodies do slow down with age. So your weight increase might be due to
age?
Sorry I can't help you more than that, maybe others will have more
suggestions...
