Niall, The roof system is the best and worst part of the car.  Clever, ingenious and ahead of it's time, but the water ingress is an issue. As previously noted the rear screen was never meant to entirely seal, but the handling of the water that does make it in has never to my knowledge been

It was never intended that the rear screen should be completely watertight, any water that does get past the rear screen runs down behind the rear seat area and down through drain holes in the sills. Unfortunately it goes over part of the chassis on the way down which can cause some rust issues.
