Hello,
all VM's in Qubes consume a large amount of memory by default. You can
restrict your firewall VM to 1 GB or less.
You can restrict the memory consummtion under 'Right click -> VM Settings
-> Advanced' to Max. Memory ~1024 MB or less.
There is also a Unikernel solution. Unikernels are

Hello!
I'm new to Qubes, but I did a fair stab at reading the docs and googling
for stuff about firewall-vm
My question is thus:
is it normal for Firewall VM consume 1.5-1.8 GB RAM (after clean install,
this is my first startup) ?
is there a way to reduce RAM consumption?
(I have just 4 GB
Hello,
the questiion Intel vs. AMD was coming up multiple times.
In short Qubes OS supports Intel based Notebooks, because Notebooks with
AMD CPU are hard to find.
Xen's CPU/Memory virtualization is pretty efficient. Everything related to
graphics virtualization
is difficult. In general
Hello,
is today some way that I can use the sound for the software running inside Win7

Hello,
Win7 is running fine, the screen resolution is now HD...
Now I attached the DVD to the Win7HVM, but even after a restart, I cannot see
the D: drive under Win7?
How I install some software via an DVD inside the Windows VM?
Kind Regards

Hello,
I like to test some software (and perhaps they might not be clean).
So I like to use a HVM (full file system), so nothing get compromised.
Must I define a HVM and install a new ISO Image (like Ubuntu).
Or if I clone the Debian TVM, will be this the same like a HVM with Debian8?
I read

Hello Andrew,
for education purposes sound es mostly essential and still many edu-software is
today in windows available.
So I look forward that, qubes can attach the Audio-Devices via the Qubes
Manager like any other AppVM. (For me this will be definitely have more

Hello,
I like to install and run some windows-minded education DVD, which needs also
Audio (which up to now I don't get over the HVM), so I try to use wine.
I installed wine in a Debian 8 template TVM1 under Q R31.
wine --version
is fine
Now I have AppVM1 based on the TVM1.
Why I cannot see

Hallo Andrew,
I used the KDE Desktop System Information view. So I can see some burst up to
80% CPU usage. But normally it is lower than 40% (X8 3.5GHrz 32 GB RAM).
So there must be plenty room to type some text in parallel inside a text-editor.
I thought to copy a VM would generate mostly IO

Hello,
I installed Wine in a Standalone VM.
https://wiki.winehq.org/Wine_User%27s_Guide#How_to_install_and_run_Windows_programs
If I typed wine, I got a .Net Framework installation box.
It seems not so clear, if this "downloads" came from a clean and verified
connection.
So Wine will not
