[qubes-users] How to forward UPnP/1900 multicast to AppVM?
I have a service on LAN multicasting UPnP, port 1900. Other devices on LAN discover the service without problems. My AppVM does not detect it. Packets from the server looks like "protocol: UDP, port: 1900, source ip: $SERVER_LAN-IP, destination ip: 239.255.255.250" How do I make the UPnP multicast reach an AppVM, i.e. how do I forward the traffic on port 1900 to the relevant VM? I have played around with https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/firewall/#port-forwarding-to-a-qube-from-the-outside-world but without success. I am not completely new to IPTABLES, but somehow I lost a point somewhere. When should I use 239.255.255.250 as destination in iptables commands and should I use the IP of sys-firewall/app-vm. [qubes-users] customizing Firefox in disp-vms
I use dispvm's all the time (both Fedora and Debian dispvms). Thus, I am quite annoyed to see varios "first run" issues every time i start Firefox in a disp-vm. I would like to perform the following changes in the template-vms, preferably from CLI, so I don't have to start Firefox in the template: * disable "first run" wellcome tabs * change startpage to https://duckduckgo.com * In Fedora-30 dispvm: disable the bookmark-bar in the top I've been poking around in ~/.mozilla/ files and configs, but so far no luck. Anybody got this working who can share their configs? (Maybe we could put a guide on in wiki/docs? I guess it is quite a common "problem" for people that use disp-vm's on a regular basis?) [qubes-users] unable to install enigmail in debian-9 template
I've been using the Enigmail-plugin for many years. However I just realized it had disappeared from Thunderbird. When trying to reinstall it in the Debian-9 template I get the following error: === $ sudo apt-get install enigmail Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help to resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: enigmail : Depends: thunderbird (>= 1:52.0) but it is not going to be installed or icedove (>= 1:52.0) E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages === I realize this is (probably) a Debian-problem, but I cannot solve this. Any quick-fixes out there would be much appreciated, I need my crypto up and running again :) Best regards, Josefa -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "qubes-users" group. [qubes-users] HOWTO restore old qubes-backup in Q4.0-rc3 using qvm-backup-restore?
Hi mailinglist, (I know many developers are busy building 4.0, so I won't quarrel about the missing GUI - I just wanna restore my backups :-) ) I recently installed Q4.0-rc3. I have an old qubes-backup (from 2016) on a LUKS encrypted external HDD. How do I restore my backup in 4.0 using qvm-backup-restore? I guess I don't want to mount the drive directly in Dom0, so, how do I do? Create a designated "backup-vm" and then exactly how do I proceed? What would be the step-by-step guide for restoring an old qubes-backup using the commandline interface? Until the backup-GUI gets up and running in 4.0 I guess many users will have the same question.
