[qubes-users] setting up vpn issue

2018-09-02 Thread Nicola Schwendener
Hello all,
I'm an happy user of Qubes OS 3.2 that just installed a new Laptop with Qubes
OS.
I'm installing right now a new Proxy (or AppVM with network) for my expressVPN
connection. I'm right now stuck with the VPN service that seems to start
correctly (both following the official Doc: https://www.qubes-os.org/doc/vpn/
and the https://github.com/tasket/Qubes-vpn-support service.
both of them ping 8.8.8.8 but once I ping www.google.com I cannot resolve
anything. I've just updated the appvm to the fedora-28 but still same problem.

is there anyone that can help me or has any configuration working?
thank you very much

Hi Andrew,
thank you very much for your answer!!
there's somewhere a tutorial or some best practice for newbie (expecially
moving from windows)?
what should I configure/do in order to have a working qubes-os PC with an HVM
windows, an VM for banking, a VM for browsing and a daily using VM with
documents, email, or some other suggestion on how to do it?
I read the 3 articles on Linux Journal but they don't explain how to configure
such different VMs.

I think I cannot understand... I've a bunch of disks in raid (almost 4TB) that
are currently a second disk in a Windows environment. These data are documents,
photo (>100'000), videos (>10'000), music
when you say:
> But you can attach your other disks to any other unix based AppVMs and

you mean I've to copy or to move from the data disk mounted on a Linux appVM to
a "temporary" folder in windows, edit (or do whatever I want) and then move
back to the linux appvm and back to the data disk?
I imagine doing that for a bunch of files are ok... but If, for example, I need
to work with lightroom or other tools that collect, organize all files, is
impossible.

Re: [qubes-users] newbie question about port forwarding and remote connection

2016-07-07 Thread Nicola Schwendener
Hi Andrew,
thank you very much for your reply... I understood the templateVM in a linux
environment, but my doubts are on a windows template hvm. Windows normally
changes many files during normal operations (open documents, ...) normally in
the programdata folder. in a normal hvm I guess these files will be updated, in
a template-hvm no... is it correct? then how can works third party services in
a template-hvm? do they interact with the user?
thank you very much.

[qubes-users] qubes and sugarsync

2016-07-01 Thread Nicola Schwendener
Hello all,
I wish to move away from my windows pc to qubes os.
in my configuration I still will use windows HVM because I need to run some
software (and some office macro) in it.
I've some questions about storages and cloud accounts.
I've a crashplan account that I wish to continue using in linux. I saw that
there is the crashplan linux version and I wish to know how to create a
storagevm that shares via NFS to windows VM and some other VM the content
available in the storageVM (should be attached to some external disks and
the NAS).
then there is sugarsync. this software provides a synchronization between
different PC I've on different locations. for this software there is a
windows only version. what I wish is that this software should run (I guess
via wine) in the storageVM in order to not duplicate data between VMs.
is it feasable? could someone explain me how to create a storage VM and
share data to other VMs?
thank you very much
best regards
Nick
