[qubes-users] Coreboot?
I was told that buying an used laptop represents an extra risk since the previous owner could have used the laptop with Qubes and got dom0 infected. Thanks a lot for the reply. So if the previous owner’s dom0/laptop was infected, it wouldn’t have any effect on me if I change the SSD and install coreboot, am I understanding right? [qubes-users] Help with a good laptop!
Hello people, I think I’m going crazy right now! I need help please! I’m only learning now about Qubes and Whonix and I’m really interested in buying a new laptop dedicated only for Qubes and Whonix but I’m unable to find a brand new one listed in the hardware compatibility list (I prefer brand new ones because they said brand new ones are more safe) and reading the page where it says about the minimum requirements didn’t help me much. I’ve decided to buy a brand new laptop but I’m going crazy! I just can’t find any of the laptops listed in the hardware compatibility list for sale brand new. I found the “Dell Inspiron 15 7000” but the one in the hardware compatibility list is “i7-7700HQ” and the one available for sale is “i5-7300HQ”. Which one do you think will work for Qubes and Whonix? I have a question but I found nothing online regarding this. Let’s say I used my own connection to check if Qubes in my new laptop works and then I only ever used it with public wifi. So I’m still learning about Qubes but I have a question please. I was told that if dom0 gets infected, everything in the laptop can be found and read. The ip is not a problem but I’m not sure about the MAC address?
