I dug around a little more, but could not find anything wrong within qubes, the
device seems to be recognized as a keyboard, everything looks fine.
So I went to test the device itself, and it turns out it simply does not type
out the password.
So I'll ask the
playing with kde. the one feature i miss from xfce is making stacks of icon. by
that i mean a separate panel on the bottom, kinda like os x, where you put a
launcher and add multiple apps to it so you get a little arrow menu for all the
extras.
with kde, the closest thing i can find is pinning

telling me that IOMMU/Vt-d/AMD-Vi, and Interrupt Remapping are not available.
