Yes. The Show will appear among your LMS players as axios from Alexa. When you change the playlist using Firefox, to overcome the buffer in the Show delaying the new command from executing, just say Alexa, resume and the audio will change immediately as that clears the buffer. philchillbill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=68920 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113419 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

If you say Alexa, show Firefox the browser returns and if you have pinned Material to the Echo bookmarks, you can reopen. Im gonna have a try at adding support for APL to my skill as it has an OpenUrl feature that would (maybe) allow me to auto launch Material when you stream from MediaServer. After all, the skill does know the LAN IP address of your LMS. philchillbill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=68920 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113419 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

On one hand, since i upgraded my home wifi with ax standard (or call it wifi6), it has become quite tricky to connect the SBR, i assume its wifi card is too old. I managed to find workarounds for that problem. On the other hand, my SBR is getting old: the main control button seems to have kinda melt, the power socket is very iffy (and not hifi), tends to shut down if anything moves or even touches the power cord, the battery doesn't work anymore, and so on. it's aging. Sure, i can buy a brand new battery or even a new SBR. I was wondering if instead of investing again in a product that is too old to connect to my wifi network "naturally", there was any alternative with more recent tech inside. bpa wrote: > The question is asked in slightly different forms, each user has a > different set of priorities. > The most recent thread was > https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?113413-New-radio-recommendation > > (...) The most recent thread was https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?113413-New-radio-recommendation As there are very few "Radio" type products (e.g. Ocean Digital , Grace Digital Mondo+, Roberts) being produced - the answers are now pretty much the same as you concluded. 3- Chromecast integrated alarm clock: Since Michael44 has released a CC plugin allowing any CC device to be detected by LMS and used as a SB, Chromecast devices are now SB! And you can find some all-in-one alarm clock with CC natively integrated .. That's funny :) That Michael44 guy is amazing! -- Michael ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio possible replacement?
I'm not sure what you meant by someting more recent / modern than an SB Radio.. For their price (especially on the used market), they still do everything that I want a smart radio to do better (audio quality included) than any rivals. Because there are some uncertainties about how much longer LMS will continue to run easily on Windows or OS - plus I'm amazed that Logitech have continued to back MySB.com - I've looked into replacements for the system as a whole, and each part of it. But for now, if I need a radio, then a used SB Radio is still where I will go LMS 8.0.1 (1606118512) Win10 Control: Web GUI; sometimes OrangeSqueeze on Android phones / pads Machines / devices are in France, in two locations. a) Sagem Livebox Internal HDD (FLAC music; mp3 voice), Desktop 3 x Touch - 2 wireless, 1 LAN. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio possible replacement?
Well, we never know Someone, somewhere, sometimes, may wonder the same question, so I figured out I might just leave the results of my research here for them to find it later. As for today dec 2020 I could not find any all-in ready-to-use solution in the market to replace an SBR. But fortunately, there are many workarounds to make it possible! Most of the info I found were found on Slimdevices forum, but not all -and never all in the same post. So, let me gather everything I found here! 1- Raspberry Pi has many possible OS, a good one would be piCorePlayer for instance. There are also accessories available such as touch screens. Great solution but it requires at least some efforts, not to say some skills to turn it into a good looking SBR. Got to make a proper case, mount and connect the speaker, etc. Proly not for everyone. 2- Using any Bluetooth alarm clock + a spare phone with iPeng (iPhone) or SB Player (Android). iPeng/ SB Player will turn the phone or tablet into a SB player, and no need for a sim card . Just connect the phone to the alarm clock by Bluetooth and control it as any other SB from your regular SB controller (your main phone, tablet, etc). Some BT alarm clock comes with NFC charging surface or USB port to leave your iPeng phone plugged in it all the time. => For instance, this could work with a JBL Horizon, or for a more audiophile sound with a Ruark R1 M4. 3- Chromecast integrated alarm clock: Since Michael44 has released a CC plugin allowing any CC device to be detected by LMS and used as a SB, Chromecast devices are now SB! And you can find some all-in-one alarm clock with CC natively integrated .. => such as for example Mondo Elite Classic. 4- Alarm Clock with Jack 3.5 mm in + Google ChromeCast Audio: CC Audio is a great and light solution, connect the Chromecast 3.5 jack to the alarm clock and to your wifi network, with the CC plugin you can use it as a SB. This device can also connect by spdif, but I did not find an alarm clock with digital in. Anyway, unless you get a really high-end alarm clock, connecting the Google CC by analog port shouldnt be a problem as it comes with a build-in AKM AK4430 192kHz 24-bit stereo DAC with more than honorable quality. The main issue with this solution is that the GCC has been discontinued since 2016 and it now difficult to find. It used to be sold for 35 usd back in the days and some sellers have no shame to try to sell it for about 100 usd now-a-days. 5- Alarm clock + Google ChromeCast (HDMI) + HDMI Audio Extractor: Google Chromecast Audio is no longer available. The new google product is called only Chromecast and is designed to be plug in a TV through HDMI only. Very well, you can plug it into an HDMI Audio Extractor such as the CPRO-11SE2. This little box accepts HDMI in and will extract audio through mini jack 3.5mm (24/192). (also through spidf if ever you need it). Those are the different ways I have been able to find. If there is anything better, pls let me know! mugen808's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=65862 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113419 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] Squeezebox Radio possible replacement?
hello everyone, i love my Squeezebox Radio but it's getting too old. Yet i don't know how i can replace it? I am not looking for a new SB Radio, rather a more recent product that could substitute. I am using SOtM SMS-200 as squeezebox in my living room and their product are amazing! When setting up the player, you can chose the system (LMS, Roon, etc) and by choosing LMS, obviously you turn the SOtM player into a Squeezebox. Perfect, but they do not have any product with a display screen nor integrated speaker. Consequently nothing close to a SB Radio. Do you know any product on the market that can display time, integrate a speaker and is controllable by LMS? Or is a Raspberry the only option? thanks for the insights! mugen808's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=65862 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113419 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
