I use Speed Clean at the shop where I work, and it's pretty powerful/nasty
stuff. My boss hypothesizes that it's just rebranded carburetor cleaner.
I try to wear gloves whenever I use it and only use it sparingly. All
that being said, it cuts through the gunk on some neglected/never
If I remember, I used linesman's pliers to cut my longboard stays.
Cut stays off as long as possible to leave room in case you want bigger
tires one day and want to back the fender off some more.
