If you'd like to experiment at low cost, I'll sell mine, with 170mm arms,
for $70 shipped CONUS, less than one year old, used on another project over
the summer of 2012. Send me a note off list.

Andy, glad you guys got out. It's too bad you didn't get to do Dixie Mtn.
We'll get it together and get out there with Tommy and Norman and others at
some point. Hopefully before Manny comes up to visit.
Hey Manny, if you're up in the summer we should get a crew together to do
Larch Mtn.
That's a classy bike!

Interesting. I asked Simon Rakower, who makes and sells the original
wide rim, the SnoCat (44 mm wide), to compare fat bikes with 29ers

Guess I should disclose my FD choice: Suntour Superbe Pro. Fortunately no
issues with it, I'm no skilled mechanic.
The VO 46t ring did seem to wear quickly; I replaced at 11,000km with a TA.
My chainring bolts were fine.

I have huge respect for Tom Ritchey, am intrigued by the Woodsies, but I
don't believe the first MTBs built by Rtichey were 650B.
There's a good discussion on it here:
