Good question. I haven't been able to test ride an ECR. People who
have ridden both say the Krampus is more mountain bike-y, and the ECR
is more touring bike-y. And I already have a touring bike.
I'm not so sure the lower BB is better for what I want. More
stability, but more pedal strikes too.
As someone from Australia (hot) commuting in Germany (cold) I definitely
qualify as a wimp. Must find some of those chopper gloves, they look the
business!

I really don't think pedal strikes will be an issue with an 80 mm drop and
3 tires. That put's the pedals about the same place as most mountain
bikes these days... For example...the Salsa El Mariachi has a 60 mm but
with 2.3 tires the pedals will be ~18 mm lower than the Krampus or about

I had short reach brakes before with 700x32mm tires and they barely fit
under the brake bridge. Don't know what that converts to in 650b but they
need to be a bit smaller than that to clear the fenders that will be
bought. I'm not sure a 44mm tire would fit. But I do have the R559's
installed
