I wholeheartedly agree with Patrick, downtube shifting has it's place despite all the other options out there now. I prefer DT shifters when using drop bars, despite being 6' and riding largish (62-64cm) frames. I like the much simpler cable routing and find that downtube shifting induces

Anecdotally, my stoker noticed an improvement in comfort with a sprung flyer over a non-sprung but well broken in B-17. It's hard to say how measurable the suspension is but when you forget to mention or don't see a bump in time and the stoker says "that wasn't bad", it's worth having. Ray

The Silver Heron for sale looks like a Gen 2 Todd Kuzma heron with the oval fork blades. The Heron will have lighter gauge tubing than a Sam Hill. The Sam hill downtube for instance is 1.1mm -0.8mm. I find mine rides like a nice smooth road bike, not a tank like people describe the Surly LHT.
