I spend a lot of time on a non-bike forum where everything under the sun is
discussed, and e-bikes come up fairly often. The consensus of e-bike
riders there is that they work just as hard while riding their e-bikes,
they just end up going faster!

Thanks Ash. So far i’ve found the electric riv has led to no car use in two
weeks and i have no plans to drive to work ever again, unless conditions are
such that biking is unsafe.
My roundtrip commute is just slightly over 15 miles. But its pretty hilly,

Thank you for the heads up! My only real reason for pause is that I think I
would prefer the cantilever version. Really for no other reason than
affording myself a little more flexibility in tire size. I mentioned in my
original post that I want to run a 38, 42 or up to a 44, maybe a 48c

I'm with Brett and others here. I think the keyword on the ACLU link is
discrimination. It would definitely depend on the specific wording in the
law, but I reckon a white person would have to prove they were
discriminated against, which would give the court or judge some leeway to

When I lived in Germany there were essentially two kinds of bars.
The drops were used by the “kids” on fast road bikes, and some guys in my
long range touring group.
The Albatross style was used by almost everybody else, from 12 year old
school kids to grey-haired Bavarian ladies in full wool
Short answer, no it won't. The longer answer on 'what would it take to
make it work', would depend on exactly what models of everything you have.
"XT" is not specific enough. Read the number off the backside of the

will sram 9s bar end work with a XT rear derailleur ? my 9s shimano bar end
shift wont work on index so im thinking of swapping, the original bar end
was installed incorrectly and as a result lost its index feature. any on

You can drop down from Bill's Velocity quill to Velocity A23 rims and still
have a nice wheelset and save a little more. I use A23s on my Roadeo.

Russ actually bought that Sam...so no longer a test bike :)
For three whole days now, I've ridden an Atlantis with Chocos and I really
like my hands at the ends of the bars. The bike handles like a bus, so the
"liveliest" hand placement on that bike is not too jumpy or twitchy.
Plus...I just

PLP has had a test bike from Rivendell for a while now. It was originally
delivered with upright bars. They recently changed to drops for a head to
head test of bars. Interestingly he liked the drops better, although he's
had no complaints about the uprights. Here's the link:
"Ladies Night" or a senior discount are both given based on an immutable

Grant and Co are certainly intelligent enough to have
Doug pointed out discounts are common.
That's totally true, but I think the distinction Michael Gordon was making
is that none of your example discounts are granted based on race, ethnicity
or national origin.
The example I would give is this: I'm Norwegian-American. There is a

I happily contributed to BRP, but after hearing the legality issue, I'm
hoping they would donate the funds to a good (related) cause instead of
this program. Lawyers are expensive and margins are razor thin in bike

Congress and established into law for this to work.

Hey bunch,
I recently sold my Roadini and so my Sam H has taken the reins as my drop

slot through the upcoming winter.

My understanding of BRP is that it is a *discount* off the list price.
These are given routinely in retail. When I got to the grocery store, I'm
given a discount because we are members of their discount program. Cutting
coupons can also yield a discount off the list price. My local bicycle
Frame has sold. Thanks!

Excellent point, and welcome back! I'm still glad they are doing it. If

Very nice bike Sky. Sounds like a fun project too.
While most electric bikes are not as much fun to ride as a Riv, some peddle
assist does have real use. If I ever end up having a 10-15 miles commute,
I'd definitely consider converting my Susie to electric. I love the
simplicity of a normal
