Ive also run BG Rock n Roads on my Simpleone with plenty of clearance.
Really the only limiting factor are my Paul mini Vs. One thing to take into
account is I believe the tire clearance gradually increased on different
batches of the QB and the SO had the most clearance yet.

I’m 5’10” with a ~83cm pbh and am very happy on a 56cm SO. Just another data
point, but I think the 54 would be too small given your dimensions. Not selling
right now, but I’ll let you know if I change my mind!

Creakiness with my noodles has been solved by a couple drops of lube around the
sleeve of the bars. This has been a reliable fix for several months running.
Sorry I don’t have further info about nitto stem/bar compatibility.

I second this solution for sleeved handlebars. Quieted my creaky noodles a few
months ago after reassembling and regreasing everything multiple times to no
avail. It’s lasted for a while now and easy enough to add another drop of lube
if it starts creaking down the road.

I have and love a 56cm SO. It is odd that they rarely come up for sale, but my
estimation has always been that they are less sought after than quickbeams. I
love my SO, but I’m always a little envious of the QB name. I think that’s what
makes these bikes less sought after/valuable. $1500 seems
I love albastache bars on my SO. Perfect for a ss all rounder setup. Wide
enough for good leverage when climbing out of the saddle, comfy, but still
gives you flexibility to get a little lower when you’re working harder. Highly
recommended. Running 100mm technomic. Not sure the height, but bars
I have albastaches on my simpleone. I think they suit a single speed extremely
well. Wide and not too relaxed for the extra effort a single speed sometimes
requires, but still super comfy.

I have fenders on my Simpleone. I'm able to remove/reinstall the wheel while
the tire is not inflated. It just squeezes past the fender when I need to fix a
flap, which is really the only time I remove the wheel. I've been running this
set up with a pretty decent, traditional fender arch for
Simpleone is canti as well. Earlier info before it was released suggested it
was going to be long reach calipers, but it ended up being built with canti

I have jones bend bars on my mtb and really like them. Would definitely
consider them for an all rounder setup. And the bend bars are cheaper than loop
or cut jones bars. The map/ahearne bar looks awesome for a more road oriented,
narrower alternative to the jones and it comes in a quill stem
Joe,
No fenders with the burts. There's decent clearance, but I wouldn't say enough
to safely run fenders over the knobby tires. I think switchbacks plus fenders
would be the ticket for the best all around set up. Hopefully I'll end up with
that set up eventually. In the meantime if fall starts
Plus one on the thunder burt recommendation. Love em. Replaced compass babyshoe
pass on my elephant NFE and the difference in speed is hardly noticeable, but
the improvement in comfort over bumps is distinct. Compared with compass at
least I've found them to be quite long wearing all the things
My mistake, I do have p50s in both longboard and original. The longboards are
longer than the original. My understanding is that the p55s are shorter than
the p50s because they are designed to also work with 26 tires. So I believe
the p55 longboards would be longer than the original p55s, but
They are indeed longer than the original fenders. Although now rivendell has
all versions available in the longboard length. I have a set of p55s from a few
years ago and more recently got a set of longboard p55s and they are a good bit
longer.

First up I've got a ~year old medium saddlesack in tan. Used for commuting,
grocery shopping. Shows normal signs of wear. The only functional issue is one

I've been very happy with my coffee set up and feel it's pretty dialed for my

Bike: Elephant NFE or Simpleone
Cookset: snowpeak stove, pot, spork, and double wall mug
Brewer: aeropress with able reusable filter
Grinder: porlex minimill, love this thing.
Coffee: pretty much changes weekly
I absolutely love my first batch NFE. The tubing is perfect for my weight,
uses, and riding style. The fork is more supple than my previous rawland rsogn

certainty. As I understand it, it's possible to make a supple

When the tire is deflated the real wheel can be squeezed out, which works out

I can't compare hetres to narrower tires, but my ~40mm marathon supremes have
had less flats in three years than my hetres have in six months. The ride is
nicer though, but not enough to switch my simpleone to Barlow passes.

I have a cambium on my crossish bike and enjoy it over all. Not quite as comfy
as my b17s, but very nice. It definitely is harder slide around on due to the
texture. Especially when riding in regular shorts, haven't really ridden with
it in cycling shorts.

I, like Jim, also go to the peddler. I also know of a few other riv owners in
Austin that have had work done there. Also, east side pedal pushers is a good
option. It's a small shop focused more on commuters and used bits, but I've
spoken with one of the owners and he's read grant's writing for
I ride in chacos almost all the time and love them. I will attest to the
thickness issue though, it's always annoying when I choose to ride in flip
flops or regular shoes (which is pretty rare here in Austin). I'm still trying
to find the perfect closed toe shoes to ride in.

I've had pretty good luck with Paul touring cantis on my simpleone. The power

clearance of the mini moto does concern me.

On my simpleone I run 40x18 for general loaded commuting. If I were riding
further and on more dirt I'd run a slightly lower gear. For tires I run
marathon supremes with fenders, but for dirt I'd run either clement xplors or
rock n roads if they fit, which I have seen fit on another simpleone.
One thing I've found very useful to carry is a small multi tool like the
leatherman squirt or the like in addition to a bike multi tool. The pliers are
really useful for removing tiny thorns or bits of glass from the tire after a
flat.
