You got it right - those are both my bikes and both are set up for me in that

It is the large Wald from Rivendell! I used to load that basket exclusively
because I had a kid on a trail-a-bike on back. The bike performed nobly, never
wavering while carrying a heavy front load. I even used to put my dog in that
basket, before his back got bad. Now I have both ends loaded -
There are enough of you that have the same understanding so I think it must be
the bike should be shipped to avoid sales tax. But I like a combination of
Roberta and Joe’s ideas - maybe a bunch of us can rendezvous at RBW for a party
of some kind. We can ride our bikes, have a little jamboree
Roberta, I’m sure you know, but is there really no loophole? NV billing
address, paid over the internet but picked up in person - still stuck with the
tax?
I cannot imagine making the trek to CA (it’s 9 hours to drive!) and not coming
home with the AM either. It’s going to be pretty expensive
Pretty much true. This might all be a ploy to get someone to put my bike
together for me for free.

Ryan! You may have just arrived at the very best idea EVER. I’ve got room -
ship all the Anniversary Mixtes to me! You guys will show me how to be a
mechanic, then we will take our first ride on our fleet of AMs together. I will
torture you on Killer Hill (pray it is not summer) and we will
In my circle alone there are 3 who want Clementines (don’t bother correcting
me, I give up on the Clem L name - it’s too confusing and also annoying to
type) but can’t get them. Dad is on the list for the 59, my sister wants the

I ended up ordering a bag from Randi’s new color line today. Campfire color;

Patrick, My Hydroflask is 32 oz, and it’s the only bottle I carry in the
relentless summer heat of this desert. Or any time, really. The bottle cages
won’t work for a large flask. But the Randi Jo bag will!
Ted - thanks, you’re brilliant. Guess what I found in the drawer???

Oh, it matters. Would I have sprung for the $$$ Islabike after buying the Giant
only months before if it did not? A bike mechanic at REI was servicing both
boys’ bikes and he knew the hill on our school commute. Baby Bear had been
frustrated on the Giant - he was proud of his bright yellow new
Mark is right about kids’ bike weight - I learned this the hard way with the
lemon bomb that was the Giant 20incher I bought Baby Bear. What a punishment it
was to tackle a hill on that thing. (Heavier than my older son’s Specialized
Hotrock in 24 inches.) The Giant was so bad I sold it months
