Wow! Sounds like it's going to be a fantastic bike. And I would say
that it's pretty exciting that Bob has essentially told you that he's
going to build you the most awesome bike he's ever built. Being in the
Twin Cities area, I've seen a couple of his bikes in person and they
looked really nice. T
Will do, on the updates.
Full on Rando bike.
So far:
1" tubing, Sachs fork crown [possibly change that though, thinking
about options there ~would go with one of Bob's custom crowns, but
they are too wide for this build], fully lugged [of course], 130mm
spacing in the rear, might step into foreig
That's awesome! I'd be excited too. I can't even imagine how much
different your measurements must have been this time around. What's
your plan for the design of the new bike? Big tire clearance, fenders,
racks, etc.? Or something sleeker this time? I hope you'll keep us
posted on the progress of t
Yep. Bob was just out here, to PDX, for a visit...
we discussed the new bike, took measurements [pretty amazing-he
brought the measurements from my first fitting 4.5yrs ago, when I
weighed 500 pounds, the differences are drastic], and he will be
starting on it within a month or so.
I am excited..
Great looking bike! Thanks for sharing the pictures. Glad to hear it's
working well for you. Did you mention awhile bike that you were having
a new custom BB made for you?

you're in for a treat if you ever get around to trying grand bois or
pacenti 650b tires.
Thinking it was a mix of 'acclimation' [yep, you got 'er right... was
running 26x1.25 @100psi on my custom before I retired her] and just
plain 'new everything' syndrome [the bike, the build, the setup, all
of it, and more].
Really liking the Nif-Swif's @75 f/r these days.

This may have been covered before on this thread, if so, sorry. What is the
pressure listed on the sidewall of the tire (as max pressure)? Jim D.

Solid, will do.
If I blow 'em off the rims on a high-speed Alpine descent [all things
being relative, mind you]... Chloe will be 'visiting' you.

Thanks.
Have a lot of lil' tweaks to start tweakin' today [we aren't a big 4th
of July family ~cept the fireworks, which the daughter goes beezerk
over]...
Twine the bars.
Level the saddle better.
Tighten the bars [as I found out yesterday, quite a few miles from

Joel & Chuck, thanks for the suggestions.
In the end, and for peace & harmony within The Household, I went ahead
and ordered the VO BB.
Already have a new set of Berthoud 650B tins set aside and ready for
installation.
More pics en route soon... hopeful to test ride today [for my

With the miles you put on the bike, I think Phil money is justified.

Looking good...
Sugino, Tange/IRD and Velo Orange all make them in 103. I'm using the
VO on my singlespeed and have no complaints.
