Riv doesn't do any torch work in-house, but adding water bottle braze ons
to a frame is not too expensive. Probably around $50 for a local
framebuilder to do it. Riv has a couple that they typically work with.
The thing that will get you is the repaint. Any Cheviut they have on hand

Well the reason I posted this question was that I really want to purchase
one for my lady friend. Touring long rides are definitely planned for
this new rig.
Is having just 1 water bottle holder a strike against a Cheviot? I honestly
have to say maybe it is. I'd like 3 water bottle mounts
I find myself grabbing the seat post or the seat tube much more often to
lift a bike than the top tube, so I like top tube pumps, and dislike seat
tube pumps.

I use zefal hpx frame pumps on a 60 cm cheviot and a double-toptube 62 cm
hillborne. Picking the cheviot up by the seat tube seems the more intuitive
spot due to the top tube being lower than where I tend to grab, so the
frame pump is not an issue. For some reason, whether it be due to the
I bet riv will put another set on for you if you ask - there's room behind
the seat tube.
for all you clamp-on guys, the best ever is KlickFix

VeloFred sells these (and has good prices on whatever he sells)
They could have added a second under the down tube , which is standard
on any bike intended for touring type riding , whether that be hours or
days . A third could have been behind the seat tube . To advertise this
frame as touring worthy with only only 1 bottle holder is rather
Agreed on the second spot under the down tube and third behind the seat tube -
at least on the larger sizes for the seat tube. Might as well take advantage of
space afforded by those long chain stays.
I'll be trying the twofish behind the seat and see how that goes.

Put on a basket, carry a seat bag: you can carry all the water you want.

Personally, I'd also delete pump peg . For myself, frame type pumps were
fine back in the 80's when there was little choice . Plus, under the TT was
always a goofy place for a pump when trying to pick up the bike . On my
Bombadil I use what I regard as the best kind of pump, Topeak Mtn.
Although I've tooted and touted the virtues of the classic HpX, and enjoyed
the more dubious style points of the uber cool but primitively annoying

minipumps out of barbarism into high civilization. I forget the model, but

I have a cheviot and run a bag and basket on it and bringing extra water has
not been a problem because of this.

VO sells a handlebar mount for a bottle cage as well as metal cage clamps
that wrap around your tube (use handlebar tape or inner tube or something,
they will trash your paint).

Seems like on the Cheviot, at least on the bigger sizes, there oughta be
room for another bottle cage mount properly brazed on.

That 2nd VO link is great, I have a gas pipe Nishiki with zero braze-ons.
Heck the first link is great too, the Redwood has only two sets of
braze-ons but would be easy to add a 3rd to the handlebars.
For that matter this thread is great in general, thanks for all the ideas.

All the Cheviuts I've seen have one set of bolts. Riv sells the two-fish
velcro strap on cage so you can run a second bottle cage. There is no
practical way for you to special order a Cheviut frame with a second set of
water bottle braze ons. You should call them to talk about it.

There's also this Nitto product to put a bottle cage on the handlebar.
