Tony, @ DK when the road was rideable after the long B road section I felt the Cazaderos performed admirably. They shed mud well and I never experienced an unexpected loss of traction. Also, no flats. I ran them tubeless on Pacenti SL23 650b rims @ 35 psi front and 45 psi rear. Also, see you at

Kellie-Those pictures are great. Eric Benjamin does a good job capturing the emotions of the event. I would like to point out that while the pictures show the DK200 racers struggling through the mud, the Half Pint 100 and 50 DK Lite riders had to endure this same mud pit of hell. Andy-I had

The 40x700 Schwalbe Duremes are pretty good for fair weather DK, but they were less than ideal for the soft muddy spots, so I ordered a set of Soma Cazaderos last night for the Oden's Revenge at the end of the month. My traveling partner, Guitar Ted, built a set of 650b+ wheels for his Fargo,

Looks like a true mud tire would have been worth the trouble, if available or in the garage. Silica compounded mud tires may not be a panacea, but they let go of the goop easier. Wet snow doesn't ball up on them in winter use either. I had some I mounted on a hunch for a trip to Stowe, VT and

How did the 50 fun ride work out for you? ;-D Special thanks go to DK organizers for putting everyone through the crucible of mud regardless of their chosen distance. I've never completed a bike race where my upper body was more tired than my legs. My training plan did not prepare me for

That first muddy section was anything but fun and I just about called it quits, but I was inspired by the people I helped and who helped me. My shoulders and back are still sore. The rest of my journey turned out great. Because I didn't have to worry about hitting a checkpoint on time, I was

I wish I had seen this before I left town Thursday morning. I rode my Atlantis on the Half-Pint again this year; though much slower than last year. The 3 miles of walking and 40 miles of headwind on the soggy roads really took it's toll on me. Looking forward to riding again next year, but I

Sorry I missed you Tony! I think I set a new personal record for the slowest 50 miles I've ever hidden, but I took my time and met a lot of really great people along the way. That 2-3 mile section of mud about 11 miles in was truly brutal. I quickly learned that the sidepull brakes are

I signed up for the Half Pint again. I have no desire to pedal a bicycle more than 111 miles on those roads no matter how nice the weather is. I rode my Atlantis on Schwalbe Duremes 700x40 with 40 psi F, and 45 psi R. I am going to experiment with lower pressures before I ride this year,
