I have Shimano Saints on my Sam. Also ran them on my Vaya, and currently
have some on my old MTB. They're 4"X4", are nice and flat, light-ish, and
have the small screws for grip...just enough.
They are a little over $50, but in my opinion very worth it. I had the
same issue with foot
Most comfortable platform pedal I have ever pedaled is the Canfield
Cramp-on Ultimate. The new Mountain version looks good too, but have no
first hand experience.
The are convex! Not concave. They need some lube now and then, but so far
they have held very well on the MTB. Very spendy, but
I think Shimano Saint is worth a mention. I have it on one of my bikes.
Have no complaints.

I use the MKS Grip King or Lambda pedals on my Sam. I added spikes and
think the traction as effective as clipless and cleats. I used VP on my
Hunq until the bearings decided to fail in the middle of a 10 day tour.
I've since replaced them with MKS so I can service them myself.

I have been very happy with my VP-565s, which I run on my LHT. I wear them
with my size 11 Tevas or my 11.5W Lowa Renegade hiking shoes. They cost
around $25.

Another vote for VP Vice.

+1 for the VP Vice and VP-001s, but I prefer the Vices. The 001's have pins
in the center of the pedal, and I like a slightly concave feel.

Daniel,
The Aim's description says it is "dual concave." Does that mean it is lower
at the axel than at the front and back? If so, that limits foot position to
forefoot only, no mid-foot pedaling.
With abandon,

I used to use VP Vice pedals but switched to Fyxation Mesa's in nylon
because they're much less likely to bloody my shins. No loss in grip as far
as I can tell.

No one's mentioned the Shimano M324, so I'll chime in for those. Flat one
side and clipless the other. I have an 11.5 foot (wide) and for some reason
the M324s work really well for me. For longer rides, I like to clip in, but
I also like to wear sneakers, hiking boots or Vibram Five Fingers and

Apologies for the minor hijack, but I have a brand-new-in-box pair of
VP-001s in black that are surplus to my requirements if anyone needs them.
$44.00 shipped? PM me if interested, please and thanks.

I flycast and have a few different rods depending on the situation. I like
to catch trout (they put up a good fight and are beautiful fish), but now
that it's warm I'm more likely to catch bass. Doesn't really matter as I
catch-and-release. I just like to catch fish and enjoy the peace away
PS, what kind of fishing are you doing? And can we see your bike fishing
setup?

I have size 13 feet and the MKS sneaker pedals always felt great to me.
They are $30 from Riv so they're within your budget and you can also
support Riv.
I do really like the VP pedals too, there's plastic ones that feel great
available on the bay for around $20. VP Vice is my favorite pedal
Thanks all. A couple of good options to consider!

Another ++ vote for sabots from VO and again aware over the over $40 cost. I
got mine on the recent 20% off weekend. I've had a wide variety of pedals of
all types and these are the best. Prior to trying these I'd have said Shimano
Saints but these VOs almost eliminated some forefoot numbness
I wear a 14 and used to ride Wellgo MG-1's, which are slightly concave.
When I started pedalling midfoot I changed to the Vice since it is flat.
The MG-1 is among the widest of pedals, notably more than the Vice, but
it's not an issue.

Yeah - Sabot! Sorry I spelled that wrong. I actually have them on my
Quickbeam and do like them. Very large platform. But as noted well about
the $40 range.

My feet are size 13, so I feel your pain. VO Sabot pedals are the best
platform pedals I've ever used, but they retail for $90. MKS Sylvan pedals
are well-made, almost as wide as the Sabots although narrower
front-to-back, accommodate clips and straps if you ever want to use them,
and retail
I've got a pair of vp vice pedals in black. good general used condition some
normal scratches. 20 bucks plus shipping of interested. I'd prolly use usps
flat rate which is 7$ I think. PM me if interested.
best,
Richard

The VP pedals are nice, and deals can sometimes be found online for your
desired price.
The VO Grand Cru Sabot pedals are definitely above $40. Now also
available in black.

Lots of reviews for wider flat pedals if you google
I like both the VP Vice and the VP001. Would probably give the edge to the
VP001 but they are both good. Have them on mutilple bikes and I am happy
with them. Also Velo Orange has a wide pedal - think it is called the
Shabot (?) without checking.
