Congratulations again! The Frank Jones seems like it would be pretty happy
with a Tubus and an Ortleib.

A surprise resolution to this thread! I just ordered the blue 59 Frank
Jones Sr that went on the 'web specials' today. That's the Rivendell single
speed frame I actually wanted when I got this Quickbeam. Very excited!
This also means I'll have a very nice condition 60cm green Quickbeam for
sale. E
Huh. I removed CR720s, and installed CX50s.
I bend-fudged the arms a bit, since the rack had been repaired, but everything
lined up perfectly, including the fender drilling to the M12 mount. The Wald
was welded right to the rack, too, which is pretty ratrod couture.
I do not use the double-end
Thank you all for all the detailed recommendations and thoughts! Tough
decisions on this little but important aspect of the build. :)
Bill: thanks for cautioning the M12 with those brake types. I wonder if I
could mabe get it to work by 'cold setting' the rack like so?

Not heresy by me; before I got Chauncey Matthews to make custom racks for
me, the Tubus Fly and Ortliebs were my carriage solution of choice. Both
brands make wonderful products at reasonable prices, IMO.
I agree that there is nothing as convenient for carrying things than a
large front basket but
This is probably heresy... but I'd install a Tubus rear rack and use an
Ortlieb roller classic pannier. Why carry weight high on the front when you
can carry low on the back?

Nathan,
If you decide to ignore Bills advice (and to be honest if i had read this
before thinking about what you are i may have not gone thru with my
purchase) and try to make it work with the Pauls, I have an M12 and the
requisite Pauls Adaptor Nuts in my parts box. I was thinking of doing th
Congrats! I use the M12 and a medium Wald on my green Quickbeam and it
works well. The brakes aren't Pauls, however.

I used these (http://www.tubus.com/product.php?xn=32) with good results on
my '85 Stumpjumper paired with a Riv HAR rack.
