I wouldn't retire just yet. With the exception of big marquee names & models with high desirability and low supplies (and a 59cm Bridgestone xo-1 in pumpkin is that) and/or high-end, pristine condition (and even here, some weakness), my impression is that the vintage market is pretty soft.

Nice. Wonder if the vintage bike market is following the stock market up to new record high marks? Maybe time for me to cash out a couple of bikes. On Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 8:12:42 PM UTC-7, Mattt wrote: > > It went for $1,025. Those with a XO-1 are smiling. > -- You received this

and I would agree that the Rivendells (I have a 97 A/R) are better bikes. Certainly better cosmetically. I don't think functionally my 97 Riv is several magnitudes better than the X0-1. The X0-1 is a fine, no frills bike. I'm glad I bought it and I have no intention yet of flea baying it. It's

I've owned a 48 and 52 XO-1, and 52 final year XO-3 (no tusk '92). They're interesting knock-around-town bikes, but my various Rivs were better bicycles. I still want a tusk XO for sentimental reasons and 'cause I like the way the stock bikes looked, but I'll probably never find one at a price

Joe: I owned a '92, and built and rode it in several configurations.* Don't spend a great deal of money on one. As in my immediately earlier post, any number of later, Rivendell-branded models are better than the XO-1. I'm not saying the XO-1 was a bad bike, but it was a first attempt at what,

The prices asked, perhaps paid, for XO-1s must be purely the reasult of a collectors' mentality, since the frames themselves are not exceptional compared to what Grant made later on. Compared to the Atlantis, even the Sam Hillborne, and even to the original Rivendell All Rounder, the XO-1 is a low

There's one on SF Craigslist now in my size, but somebody painted it red. It's been there forever, nobody wants a non-original-color XO-1, including me. My Holy Grail -1 is the '92 tusk one with road brakes. By today's/Riv's standards of gearing, brakes and tire clearance it's a silly bike, but
