I keep a light on my helmet (Exposure Lights “Joystick,” but any reasonably bright lamp will work) year-‘round. In blinking mode, it helps make me more visible to motorists, and it helps light the way if I get caught out after dark, which happens occasionally even in summer. --Eric N

Regarding light height, I've found that a two-light solution works best off-road. One light on the bike, and another on the helmet to light around corners. I keep the light on my helmet all winter. Something to consider if you lower the light height and don't like it. On Tue, Nov 21, 2017 at

Maggie: if your light is bright enough to ride by, it will be easily seen by oncoming traffic even if it is attached at the dropout -- there are little doodads that bolt to the eyelets and let you mount lights down there. At fork crown height, no problem either. This is interesting, less for the
