Ty: I rode south in May and had to bypass Big Sur by going inland through King City, Fort Hunter Liggett, Nacimiento, and Paso Robles on the way to Morro Bay. It’s a longer route with a lot of climbing and many sections with limited services, but it made for a great (if long) day on the bike.

There was a massive landslide just north of Ragged Point that is unlikely to be resolved with a year. One proposal is to re-route the highway around the slide which would be a massive project. The bridge that's out is high priority, and will expedite repair of smaller slides and other work.
