I was looking at my rear derailer cable routing and was not sure if I have
it right. I can't find a good set of instructions from alba bar end to
derailer insertion, but I know it is not that complicated.
I am using the microshift bar end shifter from Riv, friction.

I was having the worst ghost shifts with my 1x8 set up on my Sam. A good chain
cleaning (1st in months) solved it. I used the PDW chain cleaning machine, but
a stiff brush and cleaning fluid does the same.

I did a 40 mile dirt road ride in February on my befendered Sam (longboards
with 38s) and got some sticky mud jammed up there. I rode with a stick for the
last half and did some on the fly mud clearing and still had to dismount a few
times. Not too fun. If you are on gravel it should be fine,
I was having some shifting problems and found a sticky pulley. I diagnosed it
but the chain catching when spinning the pedals backward. I cleaned it up (2.5
Allen I think to take it apart) and got it spinning freely. Of course I had
ready bought replacements, but have those for the next

than a geared bike on mixed terrain. The net weight differences will be small,
percwntage wise, whereas the gain in efficiency (maybe not the right word) when

If you are trying to set a record while riding, consider a helmet.

I have a 60cm Sam in Nashville. That might not help much, but a woman down the
street has several 56 cm Rivs I think if you want I can ask her. Not Sams
though. My Dad has ridden my 60cm with no probes but he would ride a 56 if he
had his own. Rivs are just so flexy!
