Suntour Bar-end Shifters have sold. Nitto Threadless has sold. And my bad - turns out I have a Nitto Dirt Drop, NOT the Periscopa - I think it's 10cm, but I need to measure it with a rule to be certain. Sorry! [RBW] WTB: Ruffy Tuffy Tires
Hello good people, Can someone cut me a deal on some Ruffy Tuffy tires, lightly used or new? I'm very broke right now, but not so much that I'm going to turn my back on tire quality. I can pay, just can't afford to order new. My Schwalbe Marathon rear tire is falling apart after about 1000 miles of gentle road use, to my great dismay - the sidewall is separating, and there's a scary bulge that gets a little bigger every time I ride. Maybe I have something you want - I have some nice parts lying around: new Tektro Big Mouth brakes, a new Sugino triple crank, and a bunch of other stuff. Let me know if you can make a deal, Adam! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups RBW Owners Bunch group. [RBW] FS: $1200+ of Men's Wool Cycling Gear
Let's make a deal! This for $1200 worth of high-end, used (but hardly worn) wool cycling gear. Four Wool Jerseys, Three Pairs Wools Shorts, Two Pair Wool Knickers, One Pair Wool Tights w/Chamois. I thought about listing individually, but I'd rather unload them all at once. This could be a really good deal for someone wanting a complete cycling wool ensemble. A lot of this stuff is not made anymore and is highly sought after, such as the bicycle fixation classic wool knickers. I'm hesitant to put a price on the lot, so please send me an offer at: adam.defaye...@gmail.com I will collect offers for the next 36 hours. Please don't inquire about breaking this up, I would highly prefer to sell the lot at once. All clothes are MENS MEDIUM and in like-new condition, gently laundered with Kookabura wool wash. Unfortunately, I just noticed that Kucharik Shorts do have a tiny hole in them; which you mail to Kucharik for a nominal repair fee, or sew up yourself if handy. Here are the details. 1. I purchased this from the first run of Roadeos, and only road it a few hundred miles over the last few summers in Upstate New York. This green/cream-colored frame is offset with lots of antique brown leather, and nickel-colored components. The overall effect is very beautiful; one of my best designed bikes, and I'm sorry to have to sell it. Why I'm selling? My wife and I are are expecting a child soon, and I am liquidating my stuff so that we can put away some savings. I will miss this bike, and really wish that I had ridden it more. [RBW] Re: building wheels
Jason, I've built a couple sets of wheels now, and relied on both the Brandt and Brown descriptions/instructions. I think you can pass on the the Brandt book if you're just looking to build wheels, rather than understand all the physics of what's going on. That said, I found this guy's videos to be EXTREMELY helpful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXpxmqEaxb0 That's not the first video in the series, but it gives an idea of what each is like. He explains things very well, and you just can't beat actually watching a skilled mechanic assemble a wheel. Give yourself plenty of time, and take lots of breaks. Enjoy - it really is a fun process and something you can be proud of when you're out on the road. Adam D. [RBW] FS: Brooks Pro - Alp D'Huez Edition
Like new, $110 postage paid. PayPal only. Over the years I have experimented with many different Brooks Saddles, and must now definitively say that the B-17 is the only appropriate shape for my particular anatomy. This is a bummer because this Brooks Pro Alp D'Huez is just about the snazziest I've ever seen. Unfortunately I must elevate comfort over aesthetics. Here are the details: http://www.wallbike.com/~billlain/brooks/teampro/alped%27huez.html Mine is pictured here: http://picasaweb.google.com/adam.defayette/BrooksPro# Approximately 300 miles on it, and in perfect condition with no abrasions or scratches. Applied one coat of proof-ride; still hardly broken-in. Asking $110, Priority Postage Paid anywhere in the continental U.S. I would also be interested in a trade if anyone has a newish Honey B-17 Special available. Comes with spanner. Thank you to everyone for the great suggestions - I feel confident that I'm on the right path now. I sourced a knock-off (imposter) Eames Lounge Chair from the 1970s, local and used - but it's currently on Ebay for $500. I'm going to hold out and try to get it for $300. Otherwise I'm gonna check out the Ikea chair and the Flight Chair (which looks amazing). I like the womb chair too, but price became a factor when I saw how much they go for. [RBW] Re: Quickbeam Green Roadeo - pictures
Yeah - shellaced tan cork indeed. The shellac was made with the amber flakes that VO sells - I find that to be a much better quality than the pre-mixed stuff. I didn't like the look of the tape much until the 6 or 7th coat, and then I understood what other folks have been saying - it's gorgeous. And for $12, a better all-around choice than leather bartape (which I have gone with on past builds). Are they as nice as the BQ reviews say they are? Of course it's kinda lousy here in Chicago for riding the Roadeo (I'll get over it, I'm being a wimp), so I haven't got any real significant saddle time just yet. Which is to say, no real world-worthy photos. Your handlebar treatment wouldn't happen to be shellaced tan cork tape, would it? Mine is, and it looks a whole lot like yours!
