The Appaloosa is a very cool bike. I had the chance to ride it briefly and
the ride is great and comfy. As others have said, it doesn't feel heavy or

3 weeks ago while riding my bike for coffee with the wife. I went down
hard...road rash all over my body...bike was not hurt except for a tiny paint
scrape...The wife was following behind me on her Betty didn't fair

I bought a new Hilsen a couple months ago and haven't ridden more than 100
miles on it. It is a duplicate. I have an older hilsen also. My original
plan was to make one of them my road bike

My wife had to go out of town for the week. Bored, I decided that I would
spend the day riding my Hillborne and then visit a few local bike shops and
see what's selling out there these days. I haven't really been to many bike
shops in the last couple of years (Rivendell has been my go-to place
DougP...My thoughts exactly...it was sad to be there and see it all happen. I
just let them go on and on ( think I was a little stunned). Thank God for
places like Rivendell, Hiawatha, Mtn Sports and the handful of caring shops who
dare to buck the system (I know I'm missing a bunch)...

Doug, I know exactly what you mean. I too am looking for a road quick bike
that i can put albatross bars on and be COMFORTABLE. Age creeps up on us
and riding can become a burden if there is a long recovery. That doesn't
make us want to not go faster...it just makes us hurt more if we do. I

Always weird how people's impressions can differ so widely. I sold my Ram after
borrowing a Hillborne and using it to carry weight. The Sam to me, was the bees
knees compared to the Ram. The Ram seemed squirly under weight, while the Hill
